Affiliate Marketing Secrets

My blog is a little over 6 months old. I know that it’s still somewhat new and will need time to grow, but if you have any recommendations on ways to increase blog traffic, attracting sponsors and advertisers, then I’m willing to listen. It’s primarily a humor blog, which is a difficult niche to be in, but any and all help would be greatly appreciated! There are lots of so called 1 button softwares that promise you to get thousands of visitors within a day…. most of them are scams… or they drive traffic, but not targeted at all….
I know it sucks, but the best traffic is still what you do manually, or maybe with tools (some of them might work)…
Some good methods to drive traffic to your webiste are:
– PPC (like google adwords, but there are lots of other PPC services) – paid traffic
– Video Marketing (especially via YouTube)
– here at Yahoo! Answers
– do SEO
– submit articles about your forum
– Squidoo and Hubpages
– Blog commenting
– Forum posting
– Craigslist
– email marketing
– Ad Swaps / Solo Ads – paid traffic

I want to create a website to draw a lot of traffic in. I want to create maybe a niche social network, therefore the users all have a little something in common and the content that the users post all focus on a central idea. Sort of like Instagram, Photobucket, or Yahoo Answers. I need an idea to base my website on. Please help. I know PHP, MYSQL, CSS, HTML and a little JavaScript already. I also have my own domain name and hosting account already. Thanks for showing interest!

Affiliate marketing comes to mind, but that’s not really what this is. Do companies just pay you to put there ad up or do they actually pay you like per click or per sign up.
Can it be a combination of both?
Is there any program that will pay you if your website has 0 traffic?
If I’m applying for a program (i want them to rent my website for ads), what happens if I lie about how many unique visitors I recieve?
Can they check it? Speaking of which, how do I myself check how many visitors my page gets.
I hear of ppl saying “Google” pays them money for their website. How does that work.

Also another question, what exactly do you write in your blog? What other methods of affiliate marketing has other people used that generates pretty good traffic? Is blogging the ONLY good way?
