How Do Websites Make Money?

They don’t unless there’s traffic right.
Wrong?
Affiliate marketing comes to mind, but that’s not really what this is. Do companies just pay you to put there ad up or do they actually pay you like per click or per sign up.
Can it be a combination of both?
Is there any program that will pay you if your website has 0 traffic?
If I’m applying for a program (i want them to rent my website for ads), what happens if I lie about how many unique visitors I recieve?
Can they check it? Speaking of which, how do I myself check how many visitors my page gets.
I hear of ppl saying “Google” pays them money for their website. How does that work.

Through Google Adsense but to be successful you need hundreds if not thousands of websites all with Google Adsense on them.

No- you have to achieve sales for them & then they pay you a commission.

There are websites which can check the popularity of another site. If you’re hosting has Cpanel, check Awstats within your Cpanel or join Google Analytics and register your website.

Revenue is contingent on traffic, otherwise someone would use an automated script to generate thousands of zero traffic a day.
Ad networks pay you a publisher for showing an ad, retailers affiliate programs pay you for securing sales, often affiliates will be buying ad space on other sites through ad networks like adsense.
There are various ad systems, some in fact pay for impressions, simply the number of times it has been viewed, aside from affiliate links that pay a percentage when someone makes a purchase, the specialized, harder to get into CPA system pays for a specific user action, like signing up for samples, product trials, or getting an insurance quote.
For perspective, some sites earn 1 penny per visitor on average for displaying ads. You should expect that tens of thousands of visitors will be needed to earn the $100 min payout from the popular Adsense system.

Second, you should generate traffic before applying any program.
The way to generater traffic? A lot of ways:

    – Yahoo answer: It’s similar to comment
    – Guest Blogging: This is the most powerful backlink in the net (in my opinion). However it takes time.
    – Document sharing: Share your pdf file.
    – Facebook ads: You can get cold traffic from here
    – Solo ads: of course, a lot of people talk about this 😛
    – Video Marketing: create video and use Vagex.com to boost your ranking.
    – Blogging: I think you should build a blog to give away some high value content to get subscribers + buyers :P.

However you can check this cool way to generate traffic: http://goo.gl/QMrWN
    Third, tracking your website.
You should install google analytics for your website. If you use wordpress, you can use “Google Analytics for WordPress” plugin to add your tracking code.
See your question, I think you should take a training course about blogging. Check it out: http://www.theimelitesreview.com/bloggin…
