University Is Making Me Feel So Depressed?

It seems like a reoccurance for all my life – not fitting in anywhere. I thought university would change things but I feel I have no niche at all. Joining societies and meeting people elsewhere is fine for most people – but with my course I spend a lot of time with my coursemates and am going to – for more than the standard 3 years. So it would make sense I find my closest friends there. But at the moment I feel so **** all the time, lonely – in a crowded room (now I really can apprciate that phrase ;(), angry (at others and myself) and bitterness.
I know I’m being judgemental about people but I KNOW I don’t fit it. There are some nice people but I can’t see myself being best friends with them because we’re SOSO different. I know people can be friends with different interests, it’s just that I have not found anyone with similar interests.
I feel depressed at the prospect of going to university for a long time – just for the degree, and not enjoying myself. I even thought of dropping the course, reverting back to my hermit lifestyle back home.
I’m just so sick of it all – all my life I feel left out, different and isolated. There’s been issues with just about every aspect of my uni life so far – I regret getting in now. No friendships developing with flatmates, coursemates.
I feel apathetic all the time and have no motivation to do anything. Before I used to study all the time – and my reward would be my high grades. I thought this would change during university – that I’d actually have friends I could party and hang around with who enjoyed my company and vice versa. I suppose I dreamed a little unrealistically. It’s so depressing that I used to think it’ll be over soon, and I’ll be out of here (school etc) with good grades, then I can find some friends… But now all this is just happening again.
University has made me shallow, insecure, and bought out some negative qualities in me – that perhaps were lurking there anyway. But mostly it’s made me feel very low, but is supposed to be one of the best times of my life.

Most Profitable Blog Niche?

Now I do understand a blog niche has to be something that you are passionate about or you will not stay committed into it but another thing is I’m not sure which one to do because they can not be too general of topics either. I have comprised a list and I just wanted some feedback on what would be the best.
• Baseball (MLB updates, playing the game, personal opinions on events)
• Phones/iPods
• Video Games
• Friendships (advice, making new ones, etc.)
• Partying
• Music (dance, reggae, rap)
• Teen’s clothes
• Humour
• Travel
• Hockey
• Past stories
• Inspiration for youths
• Elementary level studies (tutoring)
• Teenagers Lifestyle (a blog for teens)
• Poker
• Family Guy
• The Simpsons
• Big Bang Theory
• Teen life coaching
Alright please give input, thanks.

I Feel Do Dissatisfied With My Friendships?

Starting off I’m probably the most conservative person in my group of friends. I met them at sixth form, and made very few friends after at university…not because I felt I had enough but I’m quite shy (which I’m working on) and take AGES to trust people…it’s four of us generally; and I have about five yeah only five at university. I have loads of random friends but I find these eventually die out as it’s just one on one interaction…I want more of a unit of friends.
It’s summer now, I’ve got four months off and I want to be more outgoing do so many things like secret cinema, the dover street market, film festivals, etc, but when I mention it to my friends they take time to reply and it feels like I’m pushing them to be interested in these things or things are always done on their time …they probably think I need them more than they need me.
So I’ve decided I’ll try build a network of other people interested in these things but where do I start? Mine just talk about boys and hop from one to the next thinking he’s the one. I’m not bothered by people doing this but when we meet for dinner and 80% of the conversation is about how he looked at you like this then yeah I’m bothered.
Tips on meeting people who want to try new things when I don’t have s network like this already??. I don’t want to come off desperate but I need new company now they’ve all got boyfriends.

How Can I Deal With The Life Here? I Literally Have Like No Friends At This College In The City?

Im a freshman in college in a big city. But its not a college friendly city. I feel like I literally have no friends. Im not a complete anti social person, its just that many friendships have drifted away. Especially since I dont live on campus (i live 25 min away by subway downtown in a university affiliated housing. It has like 1% of all the students at my college)
There was a group on facebook for my class. Literally all my close friends in the beginning of the year were from that facebook group (we chatted over the summer and stuff). Without that group, I would have had literally 0 friends the entire year.
My closest friend ever at this school was a guy named Steven. We got along so well and we were such great friends. So close to the point where we actually dated. Long story short it ended badly because he was horrible at communication. He was too immature to discuss a relationship, even though we literally in one. Just not officially. He never spoke to me again after i told him we were a mistake. (i said that because he was being a complete dick head to me and very rude) That was a little past the middle of september when we broke up
When I compare my life back in September, to now, its completely different. Back then I had such a busy social schedule. I was never ever alone. If I was alone, it was like for an hour or two max per day. Literally. I had people constantly texting me to hang out. I just had a solid group
No one really contacts me to see how im doing. I mean, I have one friend that contacts me a few times a week to eat meals with her and chat. Then I have another that contacts me like every other week or so to see how im doing, but other than that no. One girl who I thought i was close with, is now mainly a professional relationship. I am president of a club, and I am essentially her boss. So when we talk, its just about the organization and responsibilites.
My roommate is not mean, its just that we never talk.
Its just so lonely and isolating here. No one on my floor talks to me because of the breakup with Steven. Steven is the most popular guy on my floor, and they all side with him. This is such a terrible thing to say, but I feel like I could drop dead in my room, and no one would notice. I mean, literally no one on my floor has talked to me since last semester except for two people saying hello.
Its not like i have a huge problem with this lifestyle. I mean, its pretty productive because I have more time to devote to my extracurriculars and my non-profit job. But still, when I see like on facebook and stuff how social everyone is compared to me, its kinda depressing. Even just hearing Steven outside my door in the hall with his friends, and all the parties they have in his room make me feel a bit excluded.
I tried making plans with a “friend” (though clearly she aint my friend) for last thursday. At that point we had seen eachother ONCE since November. And that one time was just dinner for a half hour. So I texted her about plans. She said “sure thing. dinner thursday. text me thursday girl!” then i texted her on thursday at noon about dinner. She never responded. Ive given up. I just cant extend myself to these people anymore. (its not just that. she is friendly with Steven now, and ever since that she hasnt talked to me)
I feel like Steven is the queen bee, and im the complete opposite. He is so popular and everyone adores him. Boys and girls. Yet I definitely dont get that attention…

Why Do People Want To Affiliate, And Why Don’t I?

I’m not sure why there are so many who are desperate to affiliate with others–to make friends, to fit in. I can understand from some point of view why that’s a natural human drive–it makes sense in an evolutionary context–but it’s not something I’m inclined to do. Although others like me, and I have perfectly competent social skills and physical looks, I always back out of any possible friendship with anyone, since I see no point to it, unless it’s for business. I really don’t care about personally knowing people who might be like me. I wouldn’t want to hang out with me; one of us would end up murdering the other at some point for some practical reason.
I’m getting really tired of people wanting to be friends with me. I keep trying to withdraw, but they treat me like I’m their buddy and want to do things with me, which I do not care for with any person. I’ve heard people take pleasure in companionship, but I don’t seem to. I act on my own and achieve what I want on my own. If I need a business relationship, I’ll make one, but I don’t make friendships for no real reason, or as an end in itself.
So what’s up with me? My parents are starting to lose it. I’m 24, and they’re always talking about how schizoid I am, or how I’m in denial about my desire to affiliate. I’m being honest when I say I don’t take pleasure in having things in common with others, or spending time with others. I don’t consider myself socially incompetent or that I’m unable to act social when necessary, but it’s never because I want to, and is for someone else any time I do it. I’m not shy or timid, and can approach people readily without a problem. It’s not a self-esteem thing; my self-esteem is fine, and I’m generally satisfied with things and myself. Others aren’t; they want me to be more social and outgoing, but I have no desire to. My father’s getting more and more frustrated as time goes on and I continue to lack interest in any kind of companionship or long-term relationship. How is that possible that I don’t feel the same way he does?
