Cyclist Based Social Network?

I’ve come up with the idea of creating a social network, with the niche market being cyclists.
The idea being not to pull people away from existing social networks such as Facebook but still providing additional tools that your basic forums don’t cover.
I am hoping to get some views before I begin writing any code, as there isn’t much point if it isn’t going to get a good reception from the end user.
The social network shall have your standard, underlying features such as the ability to connect with existing and new friends who share a similar interest in cycling, whether it be your average commute or a full time sports interest.
You shall then have additional tools such as the ability to share routes you have done, rate routes that others have posted (enjoyment, difficulty etc.) and keep track of your progress such as miles and performance.
Other potential features include the possibility of creating groups (such as local cycling clubs) and events which you can share with your friends or make them public and invite other members of the community along.
There would obviously be privacy concerns, which is why no Personally Identifiable Information would be collected however this shouldn’t impede the service as you will still be able to share the content.
What do you think, does it have potential? I was thinking that students could play a big part in the market, especially with commutes which you may make.
Thanks for any feedback, not too much information… just in case 😛

Comfibook And Linkedin, Sharing User Information?

I have found that I can find workers’ and friends’ information on the comfibook.com website. The information is very similar to how it would’ve been entered on a linkedin account. is comfibook a linkedin affiliate, do they do business together? Interested to see how this relates to privacy concerns online.
Any insights?
