Job Offer Rescinded?!?

I recently interviewed twice with a company that was supposed to be a temp for hire position.
They immediately notified my recruiter that they were interested in me and wanted to extend an offer, but nothing official because they were waiting for the government to approve the funding for the positions.
We went through the motions of doing the background check and everything, the company then decided they wanted to hire me directly (not temp period) so I had to fill out an official job application and all that, which was sent through my recruiter.
No word for a week or so. My recruiter (NOT affiliated with the company) said everything was fine and they were just waiting for the background check and salary approval and all that, I guess. But to not worry.
Today I get a phone call from her saying the company had let her know that they have two employees who are currently not on projects, and they’re trying to see if they can fill the position with one of them.
wtf??? why go through all the motions and making me fill out all these paperwork, call my references, conduct a background check, promise me the job, only to fill it internally?
Needless to say, I’m pissed. I spent a month not looking for another job (currently laid off) because this company had promised me a job, and it was looking hopeful from all the things they were saying and having me fill out.
They said they would let my recruiter know on Monday what they decide, but I’m obviously not hopeful. It’s easier for them to just fill the position with a current employee than a new one, but I wish they had been upfront about this from the beginning.

What Is This Clause Saying Exactly?

I just got offered a position and this legal clause sounds like anything I make, for the company or on my own becomes the companies property. Is this true?
You agree that you will promptly make full written disclosure to the Company, will hold in trust for the sole right and benefit of the Company, and hereby assign to the Company, or its designee, all right, title, and interest in and to any and all inventions, original works of authorship, developments, concepts, improvements, designs, discoveries, ideas, trademarks or trade secrets, whether or not patentable or registrable under copyright or similar laws, which are solely or jointly conceive or develop or reduce to practice, or cause to be conceived or developed or reduced to practice, during the period of time you are an employee of the Company (collectively referred to as “Inventions”). You further acknowledge that all original works of authorship which are made by you (solely or jointly with others) within the scope of and during the period of your employment with the Company and which are protectable by copyright are “works made for hire,” as that term is defined in the United States Copyright Act. You understand and agree that the decision whether or not to commercialize or market any invention developed by me solely or jointly with others is within the Company’s sole discretion and for the Company’s sole benefit and that no royalty will be due to me as a result of the Company’s efforts to commercialize or market any such invention.

What Is My Obligation To A Head Hunter?

I applied for a out of state position. The contact was a independent head hunter, who scheduled my phone interview. I spoke with the employer and felt it was not a good match. She recommended another position they had open in my state. She said she would forward my resume to the HR manager who was handling this position in my state. One of their directors then called me for a phone interview, then a face-to-face. It seems to be a better fit. And looks like I might be offered the job.
Now, this independent is calling me asking me how the interview went and so on. I don’t want to be rude, but I feel he is trying to take a commission from this affiliated company who he did not set up an interview for. I have never sign an agreement with this head hunter. So I’m not sure what is my obligation to him? I’m also considered that he will try to ask for a commission from this company and might effect my compensation negotiations. What should I do?

Should I Take The Hotel Department Manager Position At 38k A Year, Or Go Into Real Estate W/ /remax. 100% Comm?

Wondering whether or not I should take a salaried Hotel Department Manager position at 38k a year, or go into real estate as an affiliate broker with Remax. No cap on earnings, but the downside is 100% commission. A girl that I have been seeing the last month and a half( just as friends) is in here second year doing real estate with no prev. experience, and she told me she cleared 56k the first year. She was upfront with me that it is a lot of work starting out, but it gets easier. Started in hospitality when I was 17, and now I am finally getting a shot at becoming a manager. 23, Male, single, no kids or family obligations. At a crossroads. Thanks for any input.

“position Applied For” Job Application?

I’m applying at two bookstores: Barnes and Noble, and Half Price Books.
I never am sure what to put for the position applied for, as I do not know all of the positions affiliated with the jobs. I was told I could just put down “open” and that would suffice, but one of the applications says “Response Required” under that field, so I am not so confident that “open” is what they are looking for.
Do they just mean hourly, salary, or management etc?
Also, if anyone happens to work in either bookstore, or any other bookstore for that matter, how do you like the job? I work in fast food currently, and I’m sure anything would be better.
Thanks for any help!
