What Can I Do About A Slacker Parent?

My parent was fired from her job 7 years ago. She worked little part time jobs at pubs, used up her savings, and borrowed money from anyone she could to support herself for a few years before she was eventually evicted and had to move in with some friends. About a year ago she started having trouble with her friends because she wouldn’t/couldn’t get anything more than a part time job earning barely more than $3.50 per hour + tips and not being able to pay her share of the bills. She was kicked out about 4 months ago and since I would not allow my mother to be homeless she moved in with us. We paid nearly $600 to have her belongings moved to storage out here and have been paying $150 per month for storage, $70 for her car insurance, not to mention the cost of food, power, and water since our bills have gone up. We have been barely getting by since she moved in and can barely afford to put any groceries into the house. Lets put it this way, our dogs are eating better than we are. I tried to make things a little less comfortable for her to encourage her wanting to get out on her own but it backfired. I started to buy less groceries (not that we could really afford them anyways but) and buy a few things for my fiancee and I to eat for lunch that I knew she did not like and would not eat but to solve that problem she went out and got food stamps and while she is putting a little bit of food in the kitchen I’ve noticed wrappers for things like honey buns and things like that in the trash can or on the coffee table that I know we didn’t buy but there is no box in sight which leads me to believe she is hoarding food in her room! (I don’t know for a fact but I’m not going into that over stuffed room to save my life, you can barely walk through it! It’s not dirty like filled with week old garbage but its just a small bedroom that she has crammed to capacity with a king sized bed, 3 dressers, a jewelry box, 2 free standing closets and nightstands. But even with all that furniture she has baskets stacked with laundry and cardboard boxes stacked on half of her bed filled with junk like books and magazines and pure crap. Seriously I didn’t think you could even fit that much stuff into this little bed room but I am beginning to think she is a hoarder.)
Since she moved in we have noticed things moving around, are being told how and when to do things, food vanishing much faster than it should be, the constant bickering that I should have bought this brand of soda because it is $.03 cheaper even though it tastes like a dog’s backside and mostly the lack of privacy for example when I left for work today I closed my bedroom door but when I got home for lunch the door was open and I know my fiancee left at the same time as me and hasn’t been home since. I’ve lost access to my own computer and barely get to use my tv after work. I just want to run through the house screaming MINE MINE MINE like a child!!!
She used to do the dishes every day and help keep the house picked up but that is steadily declining as well. She hasn’t had a single interview in the 4 months that she has been here and I began to worry that she was not trying to find a job at all. The past few days I began looking at the history on my computer and it is littered with nothing but facebook and dating sites with a job posting here or there every week or so. This morning she left a craigslist job add on the browser but when I clicked back it goes directly to facebook.
My fiancee and I are getting married in a couple months and I recently got an offer to move into a company paid home but I can not take her with me nor do I want to! I told her about the offer and mentioned that when she gets a job I’d be willing to help her with her costs if she takes over the lease of the place we are in now until she is able to fully support herself since we are not able to move until she is working but she didn’t respond at all. She simply just shrugged her shoulders and began flipping channels on my tv.
My fiancee is at her wits end with this and I am at a loss. I have no idea what to do with this situation or how to deal with her moving my things about and acting like she owns the place. How can I get her off her butt and into a job?

What Do You Think Of My Book Idea? I’ll Take Any Kind Of Critisism.?

Plot: Sometime in the future, the Earth is controlled by one government. Even with such power and control, the government keeps to itself. They never broadcast news about what’s going on. People keep to themselves, live well, and keep the government on the bottom of their list of worries.
On the West of a continent with no name is a boarding school. Even with the government at such a distance in the minds of the masses, the school is famous. But no one talks about it. The school recruits only the best of the best, the smartest of the smart and the strongest of the strong in hopes of creating a capable group of kids ready to tackle the oh so secret government jobs. There’s training in every field imaginable- economics, history, propaganda, marketing, athletics.
When our main character is recruited to attend the school, she is hardly surprised. Unlike the ignorant people she used to live with (with the exception of her one friend from back home) she actually carried around with her some common sense. While everyone from home either congratulated her or glared at her with either looks of jealousy or hatred, she was just ready to leave.
At the school, boys and girls are not to communicate. In fact, making friends is discouraged.
As the protagonist becomes familiar with the new school, she begins to notice things others don’t—things that make her question the objectives of the school and the government. She starts putting two and two together, and comes across a secret the government has been keeping form everyone: one that could change everything.
If you want a character list, just ask. I need help naming them!

Does This Sound Like A Good Living Situation To You? For College?

My living situation sucks. i live across the hall from my ex boyfriend and no one lives in this building?
Im a college freshman. I go to school in chicago. I live 20 minutes from the main campus by subway in this university affiliated housing that no one lives in. There are about 2000 students who live in this 18 story building, but it consists of like 4 colleges, and no students interact with people from other colleges because you dont know who is from what college. Its very very antisocial here. No interaction at all really. There are only like 30 kids from my entire college in this building. Its weird. On my floor there is a wing for kids from my college, and there are about 17 of us. They are all video gaming guys. I am one of the only girls, besides my suitemates (one is a big partier and tried to have sex with my ex boyfriend, so clearly i dont interact with her. Shes mean too, and really annoying, and she never talks to me. Then there is my other suitemate who is nice but i dont hang out with her because she is gone a lot from her dorm and always busy)
So really, im the only girl who is ever there in the dorms. I dont mind being the only girl, its just that all the guys are all like one big clique. My ex boyfriend lives right across the hall from me and is like the most popular guy in this wing now. None of the people here talk to me, because of what happened between me and Mike. Once Mike and I broke up, they stopped talking to me. Its really awkward leaving my dorm room and seeing one of them in the hallway because they just see me as his ex girlfriend….and its really awkward because Mike snickers to his friends when he sees me.
I have two months of school left. I dont think im coming back to this college next year. I think im going back home to the east coast next year. But how can i survive the rest of this year? Its so lonely and isolating here. I dont have a roommate anymore. In general, this building is just really anti-social. We arent even allowed to keep our doors open ever. We have to keep them shut at all times.

What Have Republicans Got Against The Chevy Volt?

Imagine that. Former President George H.W. Bush recently bought his son, Neil, a Chevrolet Volt as a birthday present. This is the car that all right-thinking, right-wingers demand we hate.
In their political prism, the Volt has everything going against it: It’s beloved by environmentalists for getting 61 miles to the gallon of fuel. It’s assembled by unionized workers at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck plant. It enjoys government subsidies intended to encourage the production of fuel-efficient cars — started by H.W.’s oldest son, former President George W. Bush.
To many, this resembles progress. But to conservatives wanting government-bailed-out Detroit to go down, especially if the United Auto Workers union goes with it, this plug-in hybrid is the car that has to die.
Lo and behold, U.S. car sales were hot last month, with General Motors selling more than 100,000 vehicles that get at least 30 mpg. And sales of its Chevy Volt more than doubled from the month before.
The irony is that GM has temporarily stopped production of the Volt following earlier weak sales. Why? The right-wing media had launched an outrageous smear campaign against it. As former GM executive Bob Lutz sarcastically put it, the Volt had become “the poster child for President [Barack] Obama’s socialist meddling in the free automotive market.”
Lutz responded with special anger to a recent “Bill O’Reilly” Fox News show in which the host condemned the Volt as “an unmitigated disaster.” Joshing over the disappointing Volt sales, O’Reilly’s guest, Lou Dobbs said, “It doesn’t work.” Also, “It catches fire.”
None of this is true. The European-market Volt worked well enough to be named the European car of the year. The “catching fire” claim is fiction, Lutz said, based on battery tests “under extremely destructive experimental conditions.” Two of the three batteries involved weren’t in a car. No Volt has ever caught fire in an accident on a public road, he added, while between 2003 and 2007, some 278,000 gas-powered cars did.
Sadly, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has lowered himself by catering to feverish right-wing fantasies. He softened the rhetoric a bit by advancing the myth that an already weak General Motors and Chrysler could have survived in bankruptcy reorganization without government help. Most economists deemed that scenario impossible at a time of economic meltdown, when nearly all lending had stopped. And who would buy a car from a bankrupt company not backed by the government?
Judging from past writings on energy policy, Romney probably subscribes to a Bush-like belief that government has a role in helping Americans reduce their oil consumption. But he did join the anti-Volt pile-on this week. Using past tense he commented, “I’m not sure America was ready for the Chevy Volt.” Then he wished it well.
What weird brand of politics revels at the prospect of plowing under a U.S. product so innovative that the Chinese are wanting its engineering secrets? It’s a politics that:
• Ignores the huge subsidies that other governments, including China’s, are pouring into energy technology.
