Hollywood And Stereotypes?

The movies that Hollywood churns out are chock full of subtle stereotypes or racism. Has anyone else noticed this? And it’s not just race either, they even have sexist roles as well. I read somewhere that the reason they do this is to appeal to white males (which are still the majority in the US) and so, having minority characters (both racial and sexual) that deviate from what is acceptable from this demographic, will not sell tickets. How true do you think this is?

Gothic Hippies Questions?

So, I’ve found out about a niche within the goth/hippie subculture known as ‘dark hippies’, or ‘goth hippies’. There is a website somewhere on the internet that describes them more; but I was wondering about a few things. Broomstick skirts, daishikis (African shirt), tie-dye, combat boots, chokers…; could someone give me advice on how to mix both of the styles? Sorry, I’m using stereotypes for ease; I know there are more things out there.
Usually I wear a black camisole top, broomstick skirt (purple or black usually), choker (or glass necklace), and then either sandals or combat/knee high boots. But I wear this quite a bit, so any new advice, again, will be nice.
As well, music that you all like…I’m always looking for something new to indulge in.
Thank you.

Girls/ladies/women, Do You Miss Being Able To Wear Rainbowish Things?

I remember as a kid, all girls used to wear rainbowish things, especially since rainbow brite was very popular among girls…I also used to see women very feminine who sported anything rainbow
http://www.google.com/search?q=rainbow+brite&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=s946UPK7DubpigKuqIGIAw&ved=0CDoQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=673
Now that the rainbow is affiliated with Homosexuality, I no longer see women as feminine, but women with masculinized brains…now
do you miss being able to sport the rainbow without being subjected to stereotypes?

Is It Racist In 2012?

I wouldn’t call myself racist. I believe in stereotypes like Jews are good with money & chinese people are smart etc. & I believe Racist is when you Hate other people because of their race. & I don’t believe stereotypes apply to every single person of this or that race, & I don’t hate ppl because of it I just think certain things are generally true.
Anyway, I think my real problem is with political correctness, & peoples problem with the TRUTH & blatantly obvious FACTS.
ex1: 50% of people with HIV/AIDS are Black, yet they only account for 10%-13% of The total population.
>>> 30% of people with HIV/AIDS are white yet they account for 75%-80% of The total population.
ex2: Not all Muslims are terrorists. But nearly all Terrorists are Muslims, or Muslim affiliated.
People say religious extremist of all kinds are terrorist. But seriously how many Fundamentalist Buddhists do you see Blowing things up?
ex3: People in Korea eat dogs, Chinese Honey is banned in the USA because of high levels of lead. Lead & other toxins are found in Chinese baby formula. Yet if your afraid to eat in a chinese restaurant because you think chinese people are filthy or afraid your chicken is actually pigeon or has toxins, You are ignorant or Racist.
Why is it taboo to believe & better yet openly state obvious facts?

All Of A Sudden, I Kinda Don’t Like My Friends.?

I dunno what happened. Freshman year of high school, things were fine. But this year…I don’t know what it is. Every conversation seems forced and I find myself avoiding them at times. I don’t text them much and I make up excuses to stay home on the weekends. These girls are all nice people, but I guess they can be immature at times. Sometimes it gets embarrassing because they are so unaware of how they act. They tackle people in the halls and shout obscenities, completely unaware that they are not the only people in the school. I know that it’s all typical high school stuff, you know, the penis jokes and what not, but they take it to the extreme and annoy everyone within a 1000 foot radius.
“AHhhhhhhhh!!!”
“stop raping my pencil, you slut”
*cackle* *snort* *giggle*
“It’s SOO BIIG! Sooo hard!!”
“Yeah, your BANANA!”
*more cackles*
I really can’t have a serious conversation with them EVER.
So, I kinda want to distance myself from them a bit, but I literally have no other friends. We are the “losers” of the school, which I really don’t mind except that I have no friends. I’ve tried making new friends, but…no luck. I’m not your typical popular girl, goody-goody nerd, theater geek, slut, pot head, or the-****-class-lets-hook-up-in-the-back-… kid.I can’t find a niche. Does anyone have any advice, or have you felt the same way?
***sorry to use all those stereotypes. I know it isn’t really like that, but i wanted to show how “clique-y” my school is.

Where Are All The Niches In Metropolitan Areas?

Goths, emos, juggalos, scene kids… Living in New York City, you never see these people around. Never saw these in San Francisco, either. Everyone is “normal.”
Is it only kids who live in rural and suburban areas who fall into these stereotypes/groups/niches? Nothing better to do? Not as many people around to point and laugh and criticize?
