Help – Keyword Vs Experience?

Hi guys,
I discovered internet marketing about 3 months ago and have already got 2 small sites running but still learning the ropes.
I just have a question that I am stuck with, so I was hoping that someone might be able to help.
My recent experience and passion has been with bringing a product to market (which I managed to do successfully) and I’d like to start a blog on that – not claiming to be an expert but sharing my experiences and getting experts in to interview.
The problem is I have had trouble finding good ‘money’ keywords based on Pat Flynn’s Keyword research webinar criteria – the SEO competition looks fairly high and traffic ok-low. Looking at the competition, I am confident I can provide a better authoritative site than most of them but without those money keywords would I just be wasting my time?
I’d love to capitalize on the experience I have had over the last few years and share the lessons I’ve learned with others but obviously do not want to ignore all the advice i’ve been reading on the importance of picking good keywords.
Should I go with my passion/experience and expertise or should I scrap this idea as being too risky (not enough traffic/too much competition) and focus on a different niche all together?
Any advice you could give would be much appreciated – and Thank you!!

What’s Holding You Back?

I work at home as a full-time internet marketer. I’m an affiliate, so I sell a lot of different products, but among them is a program that I absolutely love. I am not dependent on sales of this program in order to make my living, but it’s got great residual income potential, so I’ve been working on it for a while now, and I’m having trouble connecting I suppose. So I’m curious about people’s opinions.
This is not an MLM – is is for internet marketing education. You can learn almost anything – affiliate marketing, website development, keyword research,SEO, etc, but I’m having a little trouble competing with all the “Make $1,000 a day!” ads. I know the work at home niche is very competitive, but I get a lot of traffic to my sites, and I offer real information – not a scam “system.” So I would think people appreciate my honesty and candor. However I’ve been told I need to completely rewrite things before because they were considered too “negative” (which I take to mean honest – I give people the good the bad and the ugly about this industry.
So I want some real people’s opinions out there. What do you think holds people back from trying to start their own online businesses? Is it fear of failure? Is it skepticism?
And secondly, do you think people are right about having to pump up your claims in order to get sales? Personally I like a straght-forward person, but maybe I’m not the typical consumer?

Powerful Keyword Research Tips – I’ll Tell You the Correct Way to Do Keyword Research!

Hey Joseph Here,

So yup, there’s no way around it – keyword research is the foundation of every good affiliate marketing business. It doesn’t matter if you’re an organic search guru or a PPC baron, you’d better be able to pinpoint the keywords that matter and become competitive for them as fast as possible.

I’ll admit that when I got started, keyword research was always at the bottom of my to-do list. I almost never seemed to get to it on time. That’s obviously changed over the years, because to be a true super affiliate, you’d better have some fantastic keyword lists.

So, for all the marketers out there who don’t know where to start with their keyword research or who do but dread doing it, here are some tips that I’ve been using for some time now to great effect.

Basic Research

To get started, you need to do some basic research. You probably have a very rough idea of what people are searching for – the simple keywords that every good marketer pinpoints early on. But, that initial list is the same as brainstorming for a novel. Sure, you have a rough outline, but you still need to sit down and write the thing.

I like to get started in the Google Keyword Tool – it’s free, easy to use and has a decent amount of data to draw from. Like most free keyword tools it’s not 100% accurate and is based on PPC data, so if you’re working on an organic campaign, it’s not going to be exactly what you’re looking for, but it’s a good start.

To get started, you can use Google Keyword Tool and enter a basic term or phrase into the search tool. You can enter multiple terms, but for now, just one will do. I’ll use “lose weight” as an example. The top level of search results will be terms that use the basic term, and will include things like:

How to Choose a Niche for Affiliate Marketing

Niche research is important in affiliate marketing as this will help you determine which product is best to promote and which business is lucrative. Your success in this venture largely depends on how you choose a profitable niche, and how much effort you put into it.
Affiliate marketing can be an exciting venture. However, with the many products or services to offer online, getting started with this business and choosing the right products or services to promote can be very confusing. If you choose the wrong product, you may never earn a single dime.
Choosing a lucrative niche is essential as this would help you get great marketing results. Here are the things to consider and do to be able to find the right niche:
Choosing a smaller niche is more profitable in most cases as this allows you to target prospects. The advantage of choosing a small niche is that you don’t have to exert a lot of effort on it as opposed to choosing a huge niche that include a wide range of products and services. With tight niche, you will have to work less and make more money.
Make sure that the niche you choose is lucrative. This means there’s low competition in it so you could have higher marketing results. To determine whether the niche is profitable, the quality of the services and products suited for that niche should be of high quality.
One thing you should also consider is to be able to find people who are interested in the products you will choose to promote. No matter how good your product is or how best you think your niche is, it is useless if your market find your product useless as well.
Consider your interest and passion. They say that you can only be successful in your endeavor if you have passion and interest in it. The most successful entrepreneurs in affiliate marketing have the most passion and interest in their ventures. Finding a niche that interests you will definitely help you build that success.
Aside from considering your interest, also consider selecting products that you are expert or have a vast knowledge about. To succeed in affiliate marketing, you need to know how to convince people to visit your site and make a purchase. Also, do keyword research. There are many online keyword generator sites that will help you have an idea on searches are done on a specific niche. If you find that the keywords related to the niche you chose are searched by over 30,000 times per month, it is worth pursuing.
