Advice On Learning Web Development?

I’m interested in learning some web design, but I’m not sure where I should focus my efforts. I’m interested in learning how to develop web applications – the kind of thing that would allow me to develop interactive applications, interact with databases, etc.
I’ve got a bit of background in programming, but it’s dated. I also have a stats/econ background, and I’m hoping to pick up enough web skills to eventually develop some niche online tools relating to statistical analysis and economics (and hopefully generate some side income from these tools).
What kind of things would I need to learn to do this (software/languages, courses, etc.) ? How much work is it to get a basic competency in these areas?

Web Development Major?

I live in Philadelphia, PA and I’m trying to apply for state-affiliated colleges with this type of program and the only thing I could find was ‘graphic design’ and ‘computer science’.
I want to learn php, java, actionscript, e-commerce… Anything that has to do with building a website. It would be cool to also learn design too, but that’s not a focus. I’m more interested in fine arts than digital arts.
I read that I should major in computer science, but I’m not interested in programming robots like I’ve been reading. Please help me out.

Can An Unincorporated Organization Offer For-credit Internships?

I am planning on starting a nonprofit organization, but I need help setting it up in various ways (the business aspect, graphic arts, web development, etc.) I would really like to get this help for free as I have no money and I know you can’t accept tax-deductible donations before all the legal fees are paid, the paper work is done, and the organization is accepted by the government.
So I know I can just ask for volunteers, but I think I’d be more likely to get quality help if students could gain credit from it. Does anyone know if colleges or high schools would accept an internship from an unincorporated organization? Or, could they even get retroactive credit once the organization becomes incorporated? I tried to look it up but I couldn’t find anything. I think I’ve heard of single people hiring interns (like authors or something), but I’m not sure if they need to be affiliated with a company. Thanks in advance!

Do Humans Have More Environmental Constraints Than Animals?

I am doing an assignment for my psychology class.
It is about the development of the personality due to social niches.
In simplified terms, when an animal asserts a certain role, others will look for a different role they are good at which leads to the development of a variety of personalities.
Animals occupy the same niche, they automatically fill different roles to avoid competition and be recognized. This is what is behind social niche personality specialization.
Do you think animals or humans have more environmental constraints?
