A beautiful lie.
Religions like Christianity come to people during moments of psychological and emotional weakness and despair. That’s why prison & homeless ministries are so active. It preys on people that are in difficult times in their life. I’m only speaking for Christians here when I say this, but most will never question their beliefs because of the fear mechanism that is inherent in Christianity. It is designed to discourage logical reasoning and questioning that could lead the believer to renouncing his/her faith out of fear that they’re rebelling against god and could spend all eternity in Hell.
It offers everything.
Love, comfort, help, etc.
