Is 124,000 Miles A Lot For A Car?

Hey guys, im looking to buy a “new” bmw MINI for my first car because i have always wanted a mini and because ive heard they are reliable and have some power behind them.
the one ive set my eye on is a mini cooper with 124000 miles on the clock, is this a bad thing? or will the fact that its german made not make it a factor?
also any opinions on the mini would be great as well if possible!
any help is welcome and as always 5 stars for best answer šŸ™‚

I would avoid it. German owned, built/assembled in Oxford, btw.
German cars break down just as much as cars from other countries – the reliability thing is an urban myth, that companies such as VW trade upon. Anyone in the trade (who is not affiliated to a German Marque), would know the facts. The Mini is reasonably reliable, but at 124k? Nah!

These cars are not known for being overly dependable what you will find however is the older and higher the mileage the more money you are going to throw into one because simply put german parts all have to be imported from overseas first and since they are the only ones who have them you will pay dearly for the prifilidge of buying a bmw. I suggest that you find a newer much lower mileage one because at that mileage things are going to start wearing out and they are not cheap its going to cost you a minimum of 500 dollars every time that car goes to the shop I kid you not.
Its great to want a sports car but you will pay and pay and pay with anything from germany like bmw audi or vw if you are on a tight budget please do yourself a favor and go get a toyota a nissan or a mazda or subaru you will be dollars and sense ahead easily the first repair you have as all the cars I mentioned have easy access to local parts.

It depends upon the age of the car.
Average mileage (in UK) is 10,000 to 12,000 miles per year. So, if the car is about 10 years old, then the mileage is about right for its age. However, if it’s much younger then it has done a LOT of mileage.
Whatever, for a Mini Cooper 124,000 should last you for a few years providing you take it easy and don’t “thrash” it too much.

It depsnds on two things which arethe age and the size of the car. Smaller cars like hatchbacks usually wont last anymore than 150000 for a good one. 4×4 can do up to 300000. It can depend on make to BMW usually makes good quality cars. Ifits new it should last longer than that and also if your think the price you are paying is cheap then Yes you probably should by it because its a good deal.

    They are downright unreliable
