I’m not a violent or angry person *in the slightest*, I cry when I see homeless people or stray /abused animals, I’ve never hurt anyone in my life, I have a huge capacity for love, I’m really smart, and I pride myself on making good decisions and resisting peer pressure. I’ve never been bullied or molested, I’m not lonely at all, I have a good relationship with my parents, etc…. but, for some reason, I have this really weird fascination with the Mafia. I think all the old time gangsters (young John Dillinger, Vincent Drucci, Frankie Yale, Paul Ricca, Jack McGurn, Irving Shapira, etc) even cinematic portrayals of mob members (Al Pacino’s Michael Corleone in Godfather) are super-duper attractive. I can spend hours researching their crimes, how long they were in prison, what gang they were affiliated with, etc, when I could be doing my calculus homework or hanging out with friends. Why the heck do I have this unhealthy obsession? Why am I SO fascinated with something thats pretty much repellent to a lot of people?
In psychology we learned that its natural for humans to have fascinations with things they are scared of or different
It is because it is something illegal that is interesting I used to be the same thing but now I took up a fascination with rock and roll more importantly Hair Metal of the 80’s. It’s just something interesting that stands out in your mind.
Well, you are very innocent and deluded: the criminal world is about bullying, injustice and inequality. The opposite of justice. In the end, there has never been one single criminal in the world who has ever been happy.
The happy people are the resigned ones, those who go to Church every week and try to be the best they can. You can see the aura of happiness and goodness around them.
The mafia is very interesting. You might be interested in it because of the complexity.
It is not unhealthy! It is just a simple interest. I am “obsessed” every other month with a different thing!
And I’d like to say something about Candy’s answer….not everyone that goes to church and tries to be better is happy. Also, criminals don’t have an ability to be happy. They are sort of like robots. They don’t have empathy, no sadness, no happiness. They just do bad things.
