I’m now on my last year of high school, and I have no idea what the hell I am going to do. Searching for colleges us very intimidating, and my research has shown many biased answers. I have always had a passion for video games, and I can’t see myself doing anything else, and still being happy. From the extensive research that I have done, I understand that it is a very difficult and competitive industry to get in to. I’m not exactly sure what I would do to contribute to a development team quite yet, but I’m desperately trying to find my niche. I don’t know where to start, and id appreciate some outside, and relavent opinions. Thank you very much.

As far as colleges, you’ll want to target schools with high level computer science departments and departments. The New York Times made out a list of such schools:

My suggestion, get into the school that fits you the best, do summer internships with any video game developers that you admire (EA, Square…whatever) and network ALOT. Video gaming is a very highly competitive area for employment – the better you are and the more connected to professionals at multiple developers and video game companies, the better the chance you will get at getting a career in the industry.
