Is The Talent That The Jaguars Have At Linebacker The Best Kept Secret In The Nfl?

Paul Pozluzny and Daryl Smith both average nearly or over 100 tackles a season (im my opinion they would both be Pro Bowlers if on a bigger market team) and Clings Session and Russell Allen are both very solid in the weakside rotation.
Despite having a crappy record due to an abysmal offense, people forget Jacksonville finished in the Top 10 in nearly every defensive category.
BQ: What is another well-kept NFL secret?

Pozluzny isnt as good as you make out, he might hit the pro bowl if he was on a larger market team, but that would be because he was on a larger market team with more fans, not because he was top quality. Darryl Smith is good, but he’s about the only top quality linebacker they have. A lot of mock drafts had them taking an outside linebacker/defensive end convert at 7th overall if they hadnt moved up.
BQ: The Seattle Seahawks secondary. Not alot has been said regarding the unit, but its going to be very dangerous with turnovers this year. It shows you dont need highly touted prospects to put together a dangerous unit- only Earl Thomas came out of the first round, and even then he was seen as a consolation prize for Eric Berry.
Another secret is that Ndamukong Suh is overrated.

If you think Poz is a Pro Bowler you are nuts, I watched him each year in Buffalo, he will get 100 tackles, but they are all 5 yards or more down field which is not a successful defense play in general, and he will only get about three or four sacks/INT/forced fumble a year COMBINED. But when building a defense, LB’s are not as important as the line and secondary. Also with the Bills, ten years ago they were starting a season with Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, and Jeff Posey, guys who were real pro bowl players. I thought that would make the defense amazing, but it was just a bit above average because the pass rush and parts of the secondary were weak. So in summary, I don’t think the Jags LB’s are great, and even if a team has great LB’s it don’t assure success at all.

  3. Parasite ☠ says:

Well I don’t think either are really pro bowl worthy, I find Mayo, David Harris, Timmons, DeMarco Ryans, Brian Cushing and Posluszny to be better than either, also Derrick Johnson maybe does he play ILB, I can’t really find a source that confirmed if he did or not.
Anyway Jaguars have a good defense and people are ignorant of this because of how bad of a team they are overall, really the market size doesn’t matter if their team has in NY and they were consistently on the bottom of the league most people wouldn’t recognize their defense’s prowess
BQ: Beats me, do most people realize that the New York Giants had one of the top 10 worst defenses last year, they had the 8th highest points allowed per game and 6th highest yards allowed per game
Jags are fools for not giving MJD a raise he’s their best player and is the only thing that’s going to give Gabbert a chance to be even mediocre

  4. Detroit Self-Made says:

Yes, and if you look at their roster, it’s loaded with talent. They got their #1/#2 receivers in Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson, have a good TE, good offensive line, great run game, all they need is Blaine Gabbert to understand the game and be more comfortable in the pocket and their offense can be top 15, and on defense they have lots of talent. They can be the surprise team next year. If Gabbert performs well, don’t be surprised if they go 9-7 or better and grab a WC spot.
BQ: The Bears O-line is still pathetic, Jay Cutler will always be average, and the refs love the Packers and without their help they would go 12-4 at best next year.

  5. Art Vandelay says:

apparently the depth of quality running backs in jacksonville is a great secret too. they are so deep there that they are refusing to work out a deal for mjd.
its going to be interesting watching this one play out. both sides have taken a hard stance and neither act like they are going to budge.

  6. Eric says:

I’m answering to just comment on MJD. Because I don’t know the first thing about the Jacksonville Jaguars defense, nor do I care.
MJD is wrong. Dead wrong. Don’t sign a front loaded contract and complain the last 2 years. What a jerk.

  7. Chaos says:

    Sure
Josh Freeman sucks and the Bills are ridiculously overrated

  8. iNSAN3xMAJESTiC (GOAT Status) says:

    Yep
    BQ: Josh Freeman young talent

  9. Bane says:

    chad henne is their savior
