Is Amac The Recommended Replacement Organization For Aarp Http://www.amac.us/ ?

There has been so much debate about all of the bias from AARP, and in fact that it is a political group as well as an insurance company affiliate that really does not represent America’s senior citizens. I’m just not sure which is or which are the recommended alternatives to AARP? Is this organization recommended? http://www.amac.us/

I don’t know about that. I just know AARP sucks. I haven’t seen them offer one benefit that has actually saved me money.

  2. BlueColl says:

I google’s alternative to AARP and found several, AMAC seems to be in the lead right now but there may be others too.
I agree AARP has betrayed my trust and I’m quitting them especially now there are alternatives
I still cannot believe they sold us out to the Obama administration like that, and so quickly too

  3. rosebud says:

They consider themselves conservatives. If that’s what you like, then I suppose AMAC might be your alternative. Before anyone starts the thumbs down, the website says they are conservatives.

Glen Beck recommends it as being a replacement organization. I have heard of no other person endorsing it. If you listen to Glen’s rants and raves and his interest in selling only the products his sponsors sell then his words would be that he “recommends” this and this, not that it’s a good product or that it does what it says it’s going to do, merely just that it’s his sponsor.
This organization appears to be a new one. You’ll find lots of new organizations on the internet, some that work, some not, some are scams, some people just writing books to make a living from the proceeds. So I really don’t know your statement to be true. And, everyone has a free choice to determine what they want in their life and who they want to represent them.
Years ago I stopped with AARP because they had articles in there from people who were way beyond my income level. It just wasn’t geared for me. There was one time they said they represented us seniors and I wrote them and asked questions and gave my opinion and such and I got nowhere with them so I gave up. I guess too I didn’t need them at the time because what they were talking about in articles just didn’t fit me. I did for a short while again receive their magazine as if you work part time for AARP thru their seniors working group then it’s a must that you get the AARP publication. That working runs only for 3 months and is for those really down on their luck.

…Tom’s response above, I couldn’t have said it any better, all AARP wants to do is put their hands in your pocket and take what they can, they never have done anything that I know of for senior. When I get their requests for donations, I file them in the shredder.

  6. Karen says:

I’m not sure why a replacement is needed. I dropped my AARP membership several years ago. I do belong to AAA, and I get plenty of discounts plus roadside assistance. I have my daughter on my membership as well. So, I don’t have to worry about her getting help when she needs it. I have never once regretting not being affiliated with AARP or any other such organization.

I would very much like to learn more about AMAC and for that to happen it must show complete transparency to the point of stating the salaries of the people who works therein and if the organization will be completely none profit.

  8. Bob White says:

No. AARP has 40 million members. That’s the largest/greatest number of individual belonging to any not for profit organization. There is NO replacement. They lobby for elderly, seniors, retired people and the disabled. They backed health care reform, that’s a good thing, and it will become the best health care system in America. Yeah, terrible having a bias for older people, absolutely terrible.
