What’s The Point Of Torture And Ever Lasting Punishment Again?

Since the bible is a fictional book, I have to say it really does has good things to say, but it has allot bad things that make me feel so proud to be an atheist. The Islam’s hell is more civilize than this do you seriously think I or someone else who is a atheist or affiliated with another religion deserve something so barbaric?

The point is to instill fear in the masses…

  2. Marjah says:

Well we are either for God or against him – thats either heaven or hell. You decide.

  3. H S says:

The problem is that, historically at least, Christianity has been about realism, not idealism. We don’t decide what sort of a God we want to believe in, we decide whether or not we’re going to come to terms with the God that actually is.
‘I could never believe in a God like that’ may be a common modern idea, but from the bible’s point of view, that is hopelessly romantic and unrealistic.

  4. Champion of Knowledge says:

The point is to teach you what happens to people that disagree with theists!

  5. Bigfoot says:

God is NOT real but bigfoot is!

  6. Lachrymose Lover says:

I believe hell is of no torment, just a place out of the light of God and much like what atheists would describe as “oblivion”; the place we were before we were born.
I’m sorry. I can’t accept that my loving God would do something so barbaric to His children, despite their choices. We view God as a parent, and parents do discipline, but discipline isn’t always painful and it doesn’t last forever.

  7. Martin says:

There is no point.Hell and other fables are a method of social control. Many people subscribe to this
    profound nonsense.

  8. wha happened says:

The eternal punishment is non-existence. Gehenna and the lake of fire are symbolic of total destruction as if burned to ashes. Hell is just the common grave of mankind and Revelation 20:13 says that Hell will be emptied of all the dead in it.

  9. Chris Tian says:

There is none. It was a way to scare people into behaving before science was developed to the point that the bible’s storys and teachings became irrelevant.
    Also, can i just say:
Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht
ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen
    ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht
    ein heller Schein am Firmament
    Mein Herz brennt!!!!
    Awesome song :):)

God loves you. Love him back or burn in hell for all eternity.

  11. ♣Jim♦ says:

There is a school of thought that says we ourselves choose to Go to Hell, because we would rather be there than in heaven with God. Our everlasting punishment is separation from God, but that is what we ourselves chose.

  12. Michael says:

The point is, it gives mean people something to touch themselves to.

  13. $cooter T says:

i dont belive in hell but i belive its jus to scare th biblically uneducated to do whats right. I read the bible and it says nothing about hell

  14. Fred Weasley says:

    It sounds boring.

  15. ozarkcab says:

I believe Hell is real, it is where you come to terms with reality, by no means is it pleasant. Hell is eternal your stay isn’t.

  16. Why are we here ? says:

Many modern day christians do not understand hell. It is translated from the Greek word hades which means grave. Notice those who are thrown into this hell will die a second death which means they are dead and won’t know anything or feel anything. (Rev 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.) The punishment for sin is death not eternal life in hell. (Romans 6:23 Sin pays off with death. But God’s gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord.) The wicked will be burned to ashes as shown here. (Malachi 4:3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this,” Says the LORD of hosts.) God is merciful even to the wicked by putting them to death permanently. This death is forever.

Georgie, is that you? And we all know where that got us!
Beeble literalists have alot of ‘splaining to do, thats for sure. But they hide, as always, from the hard, real questions.
How can xtoons believe in this fatherly god- when he promoted incest?
How can xtoons praise this god that shows his jealousy and vanity and vindictiveness, right in the first 2 commandments? Is that really the sign of a perfect being? “i am a jealous god”? he also admits there are other gods out there… apparently vast numbers for all we know… so this god is also a polytheist. sweet
most ALL other religions have some level of penance and redemption- except for the benevolent, fatherly xtoon god. you guys really picked a winner. continue your life in fear. thats not worshipping, thats anxiety of condemnation. dont forget, he had Abraham ready to kill his son, and he killed his own son.
So with just these few basic observations, how in the world can xtoons feel the right to convert others? Maybe those Somali pirates were on a ‘mission from one of the thousands of gods’ when they zapped those 4 bible hawkers. Typical xtoons- accept your squalor, your corrupt government, your servitude… you will be closer to god later. I wonder if those hawkers would have switched places with any of the poor they’ve come across? (well, maybe now they would!)
Yes- who is really doing the lord’s work as missionaries by travelling around in a luxury sailboat. Come on. Get real. Hard words? Its the truth.
Luckily, none of our naval personnel were injured.
    peace

I think i recall hearing that the Jewish Hell is not permanent.
Ive also heard that Hell is not a place of torture and that is just a misunderstanding that was adopted when the book Dantes Inferno was written depicting it as that. Hell is really just supposed to be a place distant from Gods love and some people think it is cold rather than hot.
Also have heard before that Hell is a mistranslation and its supposed to mean a grave so everyone that dies goes in a grave. So i suppose that means you just stay dead and vanish or wander earth rather than going to heaven.
I do not know anything about Islams version of Hell and my Islamic friend has not been speaking with me much lately so I can not ask her.
I never noticed English was not your first language. You do fairly well. You do much better than most people on the internet who know English as a first language lol
