How Do I Create An Affiliate Website?

In order to join an affiliate program with products or companies I like, I need a website and company name. I have just got a domain name and registered with a hosting site and I am looking into building my site. However, I am unsure of how to create a site or sites for affiliate marketing, because I don’t know what it ought to consist of. If for example it was a natural health product, could I only write an article about it with a picture and then join its affiliate program, or is there more to it than that? What sort of a site do you need to join an affiliate program? Thanks.

I had the same problem last year, that is why I created a site that offers a little bit of everything, and I affiliate with over 300 companies, the best one so far for me is Amazon

I would use WordPress for the website because it is easy to setup, install and configure. Then find some Affiliates you want to use and plug in their code to where you want to show the ads on your website.

Well, I have been writing web content for a couple years now, but I also have recently decided to tap into affiliate marketing to supplement my income. I have done quite a bit of research and began creating a few niche sites based on things I am interested in and an expert at.
http://www.myreliableofficesupplies.com (advice for everything involved with running a small business)
http://www.myvegastripadviser.com (Las Vegas travel advice since I LOVE Vegas!)
http://www.theonlinepokerstrategy.com (I love poker and love teaching people the game)
Go to http://www.cj.com AND http://www.clickbank.com. Sign-up for affiliate accounts and then find products/companies you are interested in promoting.
Then go to http://www.blogger.com and create a free blog if you don’t want to spend for your own domain (or pay $10 for domain and then go to JustHost or HostGator and buy the hosting and create your site).
Then you need to start marketing the site so you get enough traffic to make sales. Article marketing on Ezinearticles.com is very good for driving targeted traffic. Write good content on your blog. Submit your blog posts to social bookmarking sites like Digg.com and Stumbler.com, etc. There is a lot more to it but you can learn a lot from Googling or joining the Warrior forum (www.warriorforum.com). There is an abundance of free information on the Warrior Forum for newbies trying to learn how to get into internet marketing.
Hope that helps as a starting point!

could I only write an article about it with a picture and then join its affiliate program, or is there more to it than that? = Yes, it is more than that, apart of writing relevant articles about it in your blog, you also have to make your blog popular to get visitors that can be your buyer, writing and waiting won’t work.
What sort of a site do you need to join an affiliate program? = Every sites can join the affiliate programs, including your new blog.

They pay you a percentage of the sales you generate for them. You don’t have to spend time and energy creating your own product. No dealing with customer service, fulfilling orders, and the like. And some of them pay 50% commission.
Join only a few affiliate programs whose products or services match the audience you attract to your site and concentrate on providing useful, information-rich content that will generate traffic and sales.
The links to the affiliate programs should be in context of something that you have written, rather than making them appear as if the main purpose of the site is to get people to click on them. This means that when visitors come to your site, they should feel that the site is primarily focused on providing information on that topic, and that the affiliate links are just a small aspect of your site.
Don’t push your visitors to the click to your merchant’s site, make them want to click. And they’ll click-through with pleasure, arriving at your merchant’s site with an open-to-buy mind. All humans like doing business with a company who has been recommended to them by a expert whose opinion they have come to respect.
