What To Study In College For Jobs In It?

So I’m in the Air Force right now, and when I get out I want to finish my pilot’s license and follow that as a career, the problem is that’s extremely expensive and there’s not enough jobs to go around, so I may need a plan B for a while until I can find a job as a pilot.
I have two passions other than piloting, and that’s learning languages and computers. I started my major at university with Chinese, but to be honest I’ve found that majoring in any language -even Chinese- really isn’t that useful and is still a hard niche to fill job-wise.
Computers on the other hand are everywhere, and I really feel that getting some kind of degree related to computers is really the best bet if i want a solid plan B.
So first question is, do you agree with my logic here? Or am I missing something?
And second, what should I study to prepare my self for a job in IT? To be a bit more specific, I dont’ really like the programming aspect of it, I really like the hands-on ie hardware.
Can anyone please recommend something for me, give me a direction, or even just some tips on how I can narrow down what some good choices would be?
Thank you!

    Computer Science or Programming
Some colleges also have an information technology degree

You would study IT. There is a degree in it offered by many colleges and universities. You could minor in a foreign language if you wanted. Chinese, Spanish or Arabic would be very desirable to employers.

If you want one that could get you a big salary, go for Information System study program. There you could learn computer programming language as well as system management like data warehouse. You’ll graduate as System Analyst which by far the highest paid profession in IT industry so far.
Or if you love programming language so much you can try taking Computer Science study program, which basically more focused on software programming, coding, artificial intelligent, etc, rather than the whole concept about computer system management. Programmer are well paid too but sometimes the job is quite boring and not flexible.
