– Motocross and all forms of motorsport.
– 33 god and my right, the roman catholic eagle, satan’s seat.

– the illuminati false media that tricks fools without the wisdom that says men do this and not the spiritual forces of the bible!

Why am I on yahoo answers asking this. all I will find is a misguided jehovah’s witness or mormon to answer me. I really shouldn’t be on here asking this I should just work this out myself and stop dumping nonsense into the great ball of sin called the internet.

people who shape rocks for free… :3

As a former mason I would love to tell you anything you want to know, but after reading your ENTIRE question I realized that your just a common troll and with your preconceived ideas you only want an argument instead of knowledge.

I would add the accordion to the devils devices.

  5. Nightwol says:

Do you even know what you are talking about? You’re all over the ballpark with this question.
I’ll address the issues that I can answer honestly.
    1) There are only 3 degrees in Masonry.
    2) Despite what some of the others have posted, Freemasonry is NOT a religion. It NEVER has been. Only uneducated idiots claim that it is a religion.
    3) Why do you need to believe in a higher power to get in? Because we start our private meetings with a prayer, that doesn’t make us a religion. Remember, congress starts out their meeting with a prayer, and they are definitely not a religion. As for the Higher Power, that is God. Satan is NOT a higher power.
    4) We are more than just a charity, We are a Fraternity. We require a belief in a higher power so that no one is offended by the prayer.
    5) If you join and leave, we will NOT come after you. We don’t work that way.
    6) None of the devices that you mentioned are the “devil’s devices.”
    7) The Illuminati haven’t existed in over 225 years.
    Notes:
Before any religious bigots claim otherwise, you CAN be a Christian Freemason. You can’t be an uneducated, ignorant, idiotic, religious bigot and a true Christian. I’m referring to bigots like Been There Done That. And don’t contact the company that he suggested. More than likely, they spread hatred in the name of Christ.
Ok, you want to quoted scripture? Fine. Try this one then.

  6. JAMES K says:

Okay, I am in the mood to be indulgent, so I will answer your points in order.
First, Freemasons are members of the Masonic Fraternity, a world wide Brotherhood of Gentlemen whose purpose is, among other things, to take good men and make them better.
I will refer you to the New York State Grand Lodge website (www.NYMasons.Org) where you may find initial information. From there you can follow links to Freemasonry everywhere in the world.
Now for your questions in order:
The highest rank in Freemasonry is the 3rd Degree, Master Mason. There is no degree beyond this that makes you “more” of a Mason.
However, there are other groups Masons can join. The two main branches are the York and Scottish branches. Each one extends the lessons of the first three Degrees, elaborates and fills in the blanks. To confer the Lodge Degrees plus all the information imparted in the others would take hours or perhaps even days to do in full.
The York branch confers 6 Degrees with an Honorary 7th Degree PLUS 3 Orders of Knighthood, culminating in the Knights Templar.
The Scottish branch confers 29 Degrees which will bring a man to the 32nd Degree. The 33rd is an Honorary one that a man is Invited to join. There are a limited number of 33rds by their Constitution, so the average brother joining the Scottish branch may expect to reach 32 and might Hope for an Invitation.
Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth are keys in Freemasonry, and one of the ways we practice Relief is through Charity. These three aspects are central to Freemasonry.
Since God is the Father of us all, we are Brothers. Therefore, you must believe in God in order to apply. An atheist is not permitted to join because, among other reasons, we cannot trust that he will be a good man. He is, in fact, the antithesis of a good man. He also cannot be a Brother for he denies we have a common Father.
You join us by asking one of us for a Petition. The website(s) I mentioned go into detail about that so I will not repeat the information now.
If you leave, you leave. No one stops you. You are, however, bound to keep your Obligations for the rest of your life, whether you are active with us or not.
You cannot ‘leave with our secrets’ because they would avail you nothing. You could learn any of them in any good library, but they would do an uninitiated person absolutely no good even if he memorized every word of them. Without being a Brother, our information is meaningless to you or him.
Your claim to knowing the secrets of the world begins a rant so worthless I will not even waste keystrokes addressing any of them.
You came to Yahoo Answers (hopefully) to educate yourself and learn something. Your pessimistic claim that you will find only JWs and Mormons was worthless, for you did find someone who can (and did) answer your questions.
You are unlikely to have worked out anything for yourself unless you went to actual Grand Lodge websites and learned the facts about us.
You are welcome to post Questions in the future. My scans key on the words ‘Freemason’ and ‘Masonic’ and if you use either of those words I will find your question.
However, I insist that you make your question an actual one, and do not include snarky comments like you did this time. I may not be in such a good mood when next we meet.
Simply ask a specific question without fill-ins and comments, and I shall answer it. It is best to confine yourself to the bolded initial section only. If you cannot ask what you want to in 50 characters, shorten it.

To explore the organization that some (very few, actually) so vehemently protest, we must first explain what Masonry IS! Here are some key points:
Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest Fraternity. While its traditions look back to earliest history, Masonry in its current form appeared when its public events were noticed by the residents of London, England in 1717. Since that time, there have been tens of thousands of books published about this ‘secret organization’. And for over three hundred years, despite the good works done by its members, Freemasonry has continually suffered the slings and arrows of those who seek to use it’s quiet nature against it.
Freemasonry’s singular purpose is to make good men better and its bonds of friendship, compassion and brotherly love have survived even the most divisive political, military and religious conflicts through the centuries. Freemasonry is neither a forum nor a place of worship. It is not a religion nor does it teach a religious philosophy. For nearly three hundred years it has attracted men of high moral character who support the tenets of temperance, fortitude, prudence and justice.
We’re often asked, “What do Freemasons believe?” The answer is quite simple: essentially the same things that teachers, bus drivers, Rotarians, or anyone else believes. There is no ‘requirement’ that all Masons believe certain things except insofar as good behavior dictates.
Today, the more than four million Freemasons around the world come from virtually every occupation and profession. Within the Fraternity, however, all meet as equals. In fact, one of the most fascinating aspects of Freemasonry (and an obvious source of irritation for those who thrive on the seeds of discontent) has always been: how can so many men, from so many different walks of life, meet together in peace, ignoring political or religious debates, to conduct their affairs in harmony and friendship and to call each other “Brother!” It’s truly a conundrum which perplexes those outside the fraternity. Laying aside petty jealousies and agreeing that issues of politics and religion are not proper for discussion within a lodge, the ‘bones of contention’ that so often divide are removed thereby making it possible for men of varying religious and political interests to meet on common ground.
Freemasons are taught to conform to the moral laws of society and to abide by the laws of the government under which they live. They are men of charity and good works and they engage in charitable works which have made them “the World’s greatest philanthropy!” Their services to mankind represent an unparalleled example of the humanitarian commitment and concern of this unique and honorable Fraternity.
    NOTES:
There are only 3 degrees of Freemasonry, no more no less. As stated above the equality thing always seems to get stuck in the craw of the conspiracy theorist or the religious intolerant.
Some men who join Freemasonry, find that it is not their bag and leave the Fraternity. Leaving is simple, just stop paying dues and within a year or two you are out or if your a man and not a coward, call or write the secretary and ask for a demit (this is a dignified resignation) and at least if you grow up and decide later on that Freemasonry would be good for you, you can return fairly easily. As for your crazy list, well I won’t dignify any of that nonsense with a direct answer. Suffice to say I doubt you would make a good candidate for Freemasonry.
@Fireball – Well again the same canned answer, uneducated and ignorant as usual. I glad to see my tax dollars all went down the drain for public education.

  8. WENDEL HOMES says:

I would refuse to be one of their number. It is said that those at the very top are not the best of people their ideals are world domination hidden under a veil of charitable works.

  9. Been There, Done That says:

There is a booklet entitled “Freemasonry and Christianity” by Dr. Alva J. McClain. It does an excellent job of showing that Freemasonry is really a false religion. It’s available from BMH Books, POB 544, Winona Lake, Indiana. 1-800-348-2756. http://www.bmhbooks.com
One quote from the booklet. McClain asks the question, “‘Is your religion Christianity or is it not Christianity?’ Freemasonry has answered this question. Mark carefully the answer on page 618 of the encyclopedia [The Encyclopedia of Freemasonry, by Dr. Albert G. Mackey]:
The religion of Freemasonry…is not Christianity.”
Quote from p. 11 of the booklet.
edit: went online and got the address.
@nightwol… “Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?” Galatians 4:16.
edit: because of the excellent answer (and I mean that) from James K, I went to the website he mentioned. I found this under “what does Masonry teach?” “Since God is the Creator, all men and women are the children of God.” Jesus answered this when He said of some of the people in His audience, “You are of your father, the devil,” John 6:44 (NKJV). Apparently, therefore, not everyone is a child of God.

  10. Fireball says:

weird cuz they combine too many religions…dont go there.

  11. Yorkshire Lass says:

You may not be a Christian but please read on.
The worst thing about masonry is the very ungodly and unchristian curses that they put on themselves should they breach their pledge of loyalty, or they choose to leave.
We MUST at all times speak blessings and good on their own lives, families and others.
Most people and Christians are unaware of the power of the spoken word. God created the worlds with the power of His word, to a lesser degree, because we are made in his image, we exercise a great deal of power in our ‘tongue’, what we say and what we speak is a sacred trust. We can uplift and strengthen a person with a genuine compliment, we can deflate and depress a person, even destroy the potential of a young child by negative insult and verbal injury. We should take care what promises we make.
I have read testimonies of Christians who tried to continue their masonic membership but illness started to plague them, until they renounced the masonic vows, but this may not be the end of troubles; wives especially seem to be badly affected. A friend had a persistent headache and found a heaviness when he prepared Christian addresses whilst he maintained his masonic attachment – he is an licensed preacher (reader) in the Anglican Church. The fact that they give generously is a red herring in the ‘for-and-against’ argument.
I know Christians who have been plagued with negative attitudes and feelings that they attribute ti free-masonry in the family line, they were healed when they had special prayers called ‘deliverance’.
The spiritual realm is strange and little known. Another thing -some Christian rites have been copied and twisted in mason rites.
The Bible warns the Christian -‘Touch not the unclean thing.'” Anything the least bit doubtful should be given a wide birth.
If masonry harms Christians surely it is not intrinsically good
