Building A Sustainable Community?

For science, we have to create an ecovillage..
1) sustainable buildings: how can we build houses/buildings without causing too much harm on our environment…
2) food: how we can have a sustainable diet by not damaging ecosystems.. how food will be grown, distributed, and consumed… what types of agricultural techniques need to be adopted to ensure a sustainable food supply?
3) green energy: what technologies can be used to minimize energy use
4) water management: how the ecovillage will access and distribute water. how will drinkable and non drinkable water be separated?..
5) waste management: how waste will be removed from the ecovillage.. what forms of eliminating would be the best and most effective? how will the 3 Rs be enforced? (reuse reduce recycle)
6) restoration: how can we restore an ecosystem destroyed naturally or by humans? how can elements of the eco village be used to recreate niches.. can any keystone species be supported?
thank you guys for having the time to read this.. you already read it so might as well answer some of it so it wont be a total waste of your time 🙂 links/URLs would be greatly appreciated.. this is due by tomorrow so please help 🙁

    1. use sustainable materials such as hay bales, adobe furnace, skylights for lighting, green roof, etc.
    2. learn permaculture farming which follows nature, not manipulates it.
    3. wind, solar, water power, thermo.
    4. cisterns, greywater and blackwater systems, rainwater barrels, sling pumps, berkely filters.
    5. when living by the principles of permaculture there is no such thing as waste to eliminate. Everything is recycled.
    6. let nature take its course. nature is its own healer.
It’s taken me almost 20 years to build a foundation of permacultural practices and I still have a long way to go. Hope you are a quick learner. If you took the time to type all that out I sincerely wish you will take the time to learn what truly is involved in an ecovillage. Good luck.

A sustainable community depends on the people who live in them more than the deign of the buildings. Look up “Intentional Communities”. Unfortunately, such communities fail to be stable indefinitely.
    1) Passive solar
    2) small plot intensive farming
    3) I believe we should move to Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors but for community, wind/solar with net metering
    4) Rain water and ecologically balanced ponds.
    5) Local waste treatments are a problem in most jurisdictions. Although you could manage the wastes perhaps with ponds, and compost piles. Integrating waste management will probably kill any attempts to build such a community as it short cycles the pathogen cycle. If you could integrate an adjoining park or wilderness area, it may be possible.
    6) ecologic destruction is usually by loss of habitat. You have to allow free ranging habitats for keystone species to return. Wilderness areas must be connected not walled off.
