I understand that those super high cost keyword ads don’t pay nearly as much as one would expect when on the ad network.
Of course your content effects the ads that are selected, chances are that you write more about ‘buying’ topics you will be including keywords that tend to have higher bids.
There’s an Adsense sandbox where you can view the ads that are being shown on your pages without any suspicion of cheating the system, this might help you identify the least desirable ads, there’s a facility by which you can block specific (poor paying) advertisers.
