If Your Health Insurance Is 100% Employee Funded, Why Should Your Employer Deny Contraception Coverage?

Right now there are millions of Americans working for religiously-affiliated organizations who pay 100% of the monthly premiums for their employer-sponsored health insurance.
Yet in spite of the fact that the employer pays nothing, the employer still gets to dictate whether the plan covers contraception.
There is something fundamentally wrong with this system.

And what do you plan to accomplish by whining about it on Yahoo Answers?

  2. Paul Jackson says:

Even if the company pays 100% of the policy they shouldn’t be able to deny contraception. They aren’t giving the policy away for nothing. You have to work for them to get it. The health insurance doesn’t belong to them, it belongs to their employees. Contraception doesn’t add any additional cost to the policy. Childbirth is way more expensive. This is why insurance companies were very quick to agree to provide it at no additional cost. This isn’t an issue of religious freedom. Anybody who is morally against contraception is free not to use it.

“Why should a married couple pay for someone else’s contraceptives?”
MARRIED PEOPLE USE CONTRACEPTIVES. This is why the average family has about 2 children rather than 8 or 10.

“Also, this doesn’t help the church-affiliated organizations who are self-insured or who purchase coverage from church-affiliated insurance companies like Christian Brothers Services and Catholic Mutual Group.”
They will have to find different plans that don’t inflict their religious beliefs on their employees.

Why should a married couple pay for someone else’s contraceptives? Why should a person who can’t have kids be charged through insurance for contraceptives? The idea that free contraceptives is a right is idiotic.

As normal you have no ideal what you are talking about.
1- Do you have any ideal what health insurance cost on your own? I did not think so.Most of the people you are talking about only pay a percentage of the cost.
2- If you had any idea on heath care insurance, the employer decided on the coverage NOT you.
    3- Read your Bible
4 The government has no right in this. They only want to take our freedoms away.
5 I am not willing to sell my self to this government. I have a mind of my own & do not follow them over a cliff
Like lots of other people on here they run off at the mouth & no idea what is the truth

You seem confused. If your employer isn’t paying anything then why stay with that policy if you don’t like it? Just go out and buy your own health insurance that covers what you want covered. The only reason to complain about what’s covered or not covered by your employer’s plan is if your employer is paying some or all of the premium–then you have to take a financial hit if you want to opt out and buy your own insurance.
Also, this doesn’t help the church-affiliated organizations who are self-insured or who purchase coverage from church-affiliated insurance companies like Christian Brothers Services and Catholic Mutual Group.

Felonius Monkey, quit monkeying around. The biggest crisis facing America today is the fact that women are getting contraceptives from the insurance they buy. What can we do? The whole government will collapse and buses will cease running and there will be worldwide hunger if we don’t DO something about this. Jobs? That can wait. Iran? Small fry stuff. WOMEN ARE BUYING CONTRACEPTIVES THROUGH THEIR INSURANCE. Get smart before it’s too late.
