How Do I Find A Good Coder? Help?

I feel like there’s this wall between starting my idea for a niche social network & finding a coder or web developer. (This is my third question about this subject). I don’t want to use those sites that have a basic social network all set up for you. They are crap, am I wrong? I need 1-3 good coders & a good web designer. I don’t want to find a company full of coders & designers because I cannot pay one up front. I will already have to pay for a domain name & eventually find investors. I’m not asking for a coder to work FOR me for free, I’m trying to find one to work WITH me who would eventually make a percentage of the eventual royalties. Most likely they would have a larger percentage than I would since they did a lot of the time-consuming work.
Is this possible to find a coder & web designer willing to do this?? If yes, should I try to find one through people I know? Where else could I look? Should I post on Craigslist? Should I have my idea perfectly written & planned on paper first (already in the process)? Should I skip all this & try to sell my idea to Google? lol
I’m totally clueless about the creation of a good social network, so be gentle.

“I’m trying to find one to work WITH me”
Most coders with any decent experience, myself included (not that I consider myself a “good coder”, jus that I’ve done it a while), know that you can only go into projects like that if you don’t expect to get paid.
If you don’t have money, you won’t find good coders. We don’t like working for free, we have mouths to feed and families to support.
It sounds like you’re off to a bad start anyways, what’s your business plan? 5 year plan? How do you expect to make money? You really need to plan the actual business aspect of this first, then take your business plan to a set of potential investors, THEN work on the coding aspect. There are investors who will consider investing in your business based on the business plan alone – if it’s good.

I will try to be gentle. If you are clueless, you are wasting your time. Good coders can code and earn money. They can also “have” your idea and readily code for themselves that website. Just having an idea does not mean success. You can start by finding investors. Once you find enough investors, then you can employ the best coders for your little project and do it. Otherwise, you can start learning how to code yourself and do it in a few years time. Why should a coder work for you with no payment and an empty promise that if she/he did their best, in the end, maybe they will get a percentage of the company ? Be reasonable

You say that you have a great idea for a niche social networking site, but then later claim you are clueless about the creation of a good social network. Ideas are a dime a dozen and by themselves mean absolutely nothing. Tons of people have ideas like yours. If you do not know anything about how social networking actually works and can’t find coders/business partners, what exactly were you going to tell your potential investors? Why would anyone want to work with you if you really don’t know anything?
These are serious questions you should ask yourself. I know this isn’t a very gentle response but it is a serious one.
