He worked hard to get the momentum needed to run for President. He’s wanted it for years. I don’t see why he would go against him, politically.
He wasn’t ever going to get the left’s approval. Because of various conservative stands he’s taken in the past, he wasn’t going to fill the media-approved RINO niche that’s reserved for Jon Huntswoman. Democrats are never going to vote for him, so why would he alienate the people who would vote for him?
He’s obviously very smart, but that was not a smart move to do.

Maybe he didn’t like the plan.
Newt is an ideas guy. Knowing him, he has his own ideas on how to fix Medicare and balance the budgets.
Let’s be honest, there was a lot to dislike in the Ryan plan.
It may not have been a smart move but he spoke the truth for once and got slammed for it. Sometimes people can’t help themselves and the truth just comes out of their mouths. If they are Republicans they will surely pay the price for that.

He’s not all that smart.
For once in his life he was being honest but the GOP does not believe in that choice.
