Why do i have to give my social security number to Amazon.com to be an affiliate for them? Will the IRS tax me? WHAT IS IT FOR??
because if they pay you $600 or more they will issue you a 1099 M at the end of the year, and you will claim this on sch S, and possibly SE as well
The government is cracking down on Amazon, and Ebay as well I think, so that people who sell a lot on these sites will now have to report that income. But it’s only if you sell above a certain dollar amount ($600 sounds right) or the number of transactions (I think Ebay is 100 transactions.)
