i was on a website exploring opportunities for making income over the internet via using the website.ws affiliate program. Now i visited a website advertising for this through a you tube video and somehow the next day i get a phone call from the proprietor of this website! How did he get my cell number just by visiting his site?
Tracking cookies, or just cookie grabbing in general.
Cookies are information that is saved when you view a website, fill out a form, ect.
Some hackers use “cookie-grabbers” and steal that information and dissect it to get pretty much any information they want about you.
Scary, huh?
I recommend setting your browser to delete cookies everytime you close the browser.
Are you sure you didnt enter your cell phone information anywhere? Hmm…it is possible that he used a reverse lookup on your email address (if you entered that). The only other possiblity is that when you visited the website, you accidently installed an active x control or some other software without knowing it (it may have said, “pop up blocked, click here to allow” or “click here to install blah blah). If that is the case, you may have downloaded spyware which scanned your harddrive, someone found your cell phone listed, and sent that information back to the proprietor.
