Where Do You See The Ufc And Mma In Ten Years?

I love Mixed Martial Arts and am wondering what some general thoughts are on it. Do you see it growing or shrinking? Is it only a niche sport?

  1. Scott says:

It will either become a main stay sport
    or
Go the route of K1 Kickboxing

  2. Illmatic says:

It will keep growing and expanding, its the fastest growing sport right now. Anyone who says that it is just a fad is probably a traditional martial artists who’s mad that their style is no longer effective against an mma fighter. Also, shootfighting didn’t go away, it basically evolved into mma.
edit: Yes, shootfighting did evolve into mma. Just because because it still exists doesn’t mean that mma didn’t originate from shootfighting. In the early days of mma, a lot of the competitors were shootfighters (like Ken Shamrock). Don’t hate on mma just because your style is outdated and has been surpassed by mma.

  3. Kokoro says:

it will be replaced by the next fad, and continue the never ending cycle
@sweetbee you know nothing you think this is the first time for it, look at shootfighting back in the 70’s, they combined, it was basically similar to mma just different names.
    grow up.
everything goes in cycle, one art will be popular for a while then be pushed aside by the next. those who dont learn from the past are condemned by it
edit: shootfighting didnt evolve into mma, it still exist, (and has its following) with the same rules it had back then. boxing use to be more popular and was replaced by the next style but it still around. just like all the others. your just clueless when it comes to history like the rest.
edit2: illmatic; your rant proves how little you know about martial arts, shootfighing and mma. first of your still 100% you about shootfighting, were is the proof that it evolved, evolving means it has change and neither the name shootfight nor the techniques used in it has changes, and my style is not out dated, the proof of that it is that it is still around and as popular as it was when i first stared. grow up. face it your just another mma wannabe who only know what he see on tv and has no martial arts back ground what so ever.
and so what ken shamrocka was a shoot fighter big deal. lot of shoot fighters were karateka like patrick mccarthy, lots of people change from one to the next. that is no proof of it evolving.
your just too close minded too see it.

  4. SweetBee says:

MMA has been around for years and as it has it will continue to grow and become more popular and eventually be considered a legitimate sport by the mainstream. Anyone who claims it is a passing fad is a f***ing moron. Over the next couple of years it will surpass both Boxing and “professional” wrestling. although i’d hardly call pro wrestling a sport. Boxing is becoming too boring and nobody cares about 99% of the active fighters. Pro Wrestling is a soap opera for dudes and doesnt even belong in the same category as either MMA or Boxing

  5. Sin-Laan says:

MMA will probably be flushed down the toilet with other fads that appear and disappear so quickly. I hate MMA, but I like Wu Shu. SweetBeef is barbaric to use obscenities and call someone a “******* moron” for disagreeing with his dubious tastes. I reported him, and such vicious hate speech must be removed from any civilized website. That is going much too far. If someone says such barbaric things to me, I will challenge him to spar, and my 270 lbs. martial artist boyfriend will intervene.

  6. Night Hawk says:

its nothing more then a fad which will be ending soon, people that think other wise are just the children and the 15 yr old fanboys, any really martial artist know better and seen it all before. ufc is looking more and more like g** p***, with 2 guys just hugging eachother for 3 mins

  7. Vision Quest says:

its already losing its popularity, it will soon be another passing fad, only a fool would beleive its not one.
face it mma fighters will never make as much as a boxer does.
    goodone nighthawk

  8. Megumi says:

I think it is a fad that will lose popularity soon. In ten years, boxing and wrestling will be much more popular.

  9. Edmond C says:

i would like to see the ufc on network television, and see more of a free-agent approach to fighters so big fights wont be put on hold because of affiliations. there is no reason that we cant see fedor v brock, or cain v alistair….affiliations are gunna hold mma back…
