Cichlid Fish In The Wild Questions?

in science i am doing a personal project on cichlids i am going to have information n each cichlid (profiles and stuff) but i also need to do a little thing on cichlids niche what the world would be like without them and where they are on the food chain (what they eat and who eats them) my ol problem is i cant find anything on that stuff ans i was wondering if you could give me basic answers for each of those (not the profiles) and i culd write something big aout t any other facts about cichlids in the wild and where they evovlved from would be greatly appreciated nothing too complicated though as i am in grade 7 please

    You need to narrow it down a little.
    Cichlids are HUGE family of fish, with very different sizes and habits. Some are big and predatory, some are small and shy, some are even vegetarians.
    It’s like trying to do the same thing with Mammals. Mice, elephants and tigers (and humans) are all mammal, but occupy very different ecological niches. You see the problem?
    Pick a species of cichlid, then you can get some sensible answers.

    the question is way to vague because with the two groups you just named there are about 500 different species of them. be more specific and then i will be able to help. hope this helps you get a A!!! 🙂

    There are many great books dedicated to each of the many groups you specify. Some even go back to talk about how we were all once a large continent, how the difference species evolved from common ancestors, etc. Go to the library and get real books you will not get much information online and it won’t be nearly as in depth (basically just summaries)!
