  1. Seymour Yoni says:

Religions feed on fear and ignorance. Ignorant people fear death. Religion gives these fools a lie to cling to.

  2. Don Y says:

While I happen to agree with that idea, it has absolutely nothing to do with whether a (super- or simple) majority of people believe it. It’s what makes most sense to me.

  3. sublime says:

No religions lead to eternal life. Jesus leads the way, the believers follow Him into eternity. God is not my co pilot He is my pilot, where He leads me I will follow.

  4. Jimbo says:

Well the answer lies in the words “religiously affiliated”. True Christians live and believe what Jesus taught and not what “religiously affiliated” people believe, including so called evangelicals.

  5. Anthony D says:

Well, supposing that they know the origin of the word “evangelical”, it leaves me doubtful whether American evangelicals can read:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14.6)

  6. Madmarv says:

Jimbo and Anthony nailed this one so I wont add anything to it.Thanks guys.

  7. Doug says:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7: 13,14).

  8. Sara says:

It does make me wonder if the poll takers have the proper sample.
If someone called me on the phone and asked if I was “religiously affiliated” I imagine I would say “yes” even though I don’t attend church anymore (I live 70 miles away from my denomination.)
What would be the alternative, religiously unaffiliated?
Also, what is an “Evangelical” really?
There are Evangelical Lutherans who don’t ever pressure anyone to become Lutherans; they are in fact the more Liberal faction of the Lutheran church.

  9. Renata says:

    It does not surprise me.
I encounter beliefs like this all the time.
One example – A friend who says, “I know what the bible says, but I don’t believe God will send anyone to hell”.

  10. papaw says:

Sorry…but no ‘religion can get you to heaven…only an individual personal belief in the Lord Jesus Christ can do it. Religion is man-made, salvation to live eternally comes only from God, Himself. Don’t confuse the two, although some faiths, like Christianity (mistakenly called a ‘religion’) believestrongly in an eternal afterlife…both for the righteous and the unrighteous…it’s called heaven & hell.

  11. magicofdawn (again) says:

God wants us to take the path least traveled. I don’t care what the majority of people believe. That is their opinion and they are entitled to it, but I don’t follow men and their ideas. I follow Jesus and He said He is the way, the truth and the life. I believe Him.
