Are Beck & Palin Taking The Wrong Approach To Winning Converts Over To The Tea Party Movement*?

To me the only thing holding the loosely affiliated tea party patriots together is their desire for spending cuts and lower taxation.
Lets face it the tea party is a collection of dissatisfied GOPers fed up with broken promises and compromise, libertarians, younger conservatives who are mostly concerned with the economy and the fiscal side of things, a few independents sick of the crap, and also a few opportunists.
How will going back in the direction of the religious right not split the tea party/conservative vote???
*This question does not reflect on my personal views as much as it does the reality of the voting public in my opinion.

    No, they’re perfect. (-;

All surveys show that you guys lose in 64 days from now.

  3. imsoeffi says:

Beck and the Tea Party movement have hit a glass ceiling. There are too many people who just don’t think that way, and never will. There are too many people who will never sacrifice their values by joining such a travesty.

  4. Caribou "QUIT" Barbie™ says:

    No,
Not at all. I am all for their methods. The more exposure they get the better. Have another rally. I am in full support of that. Next time, bring the the funny signs.

Face it, look at the crowd photos, this is the New White Peoples Party.

  7. Maxwell says:

The idea that the religious right is the only group of religious people in politics is a fallacy.
everyone still expects any viable candidate to be religious…or at least put of a good facade of being religious. Because the VAST majority of Americans are of some religion…that includes the left and the right and the center.
Using the idea of a return to a moral foundation won’t hurt the Tea Party group…..although it should be noted that yesterdays rally was NOT a tea party rally…and in fact…with the exception of one sentence from Palin…wasn’t a political rally. Beck was very careful to stay away from party politic messages.

  8. operatio says:

This is a funny question. the tea party movement is growing daily, and the progressive ranks are withering at an alarming rate. We will talk in a few months, you know, when dear leader is a lame duck.

  9. Peace, Love, Patriotism says:

Yes they turn people away with their arrogant attitudes. They could gain some momentum if they didn’t act like they are some saving grace. One is an entertainer the other is a bimbo. What’s there to be arrogant about.

  10. mountain man says:

yes, they are on the wrong approach because most people are a quiet bunch and does not join into something as radical as their party stuff….like demonstrations etc. they just stay home and enjoy the goings on and sigh to themselves and change the channel.

  11. Patient Sailor reborn says:

They should do what democrats have done and simply buy their support. 95% of blacks vote the exact same way. This is a solidly effective plan.

  12. Hey Liberals!!! says:

They are taking the right approach in trying to unify america under christianity rather than the country be divided over other peoples islamics beliefs. That is his goal and Dr. King agreed. MLK would have been proud.

  13. Linda L says:

Six members of my family traveled via bus to DC yesterday; I think they wanted to lend bodies to a rally to get voter-needing politicians to pay attention that we are absolutely going in the wrong direction rather than being so much into the tea party movement.

  14. Reality is not biased. says:

Basically everything the Tea party does seems to be the wrong approach to winning converts over to the tea party movement. But yes, prattling on about “returning to God” does seem to be a particularly ill calculated move.

  15. Willis Jeffords says:

    I think you’re right.
To me, Beck & Palin represent a part of the Republican party that emerged with the George W administration and best forgotten. Making religion the driving issue of the GOP is divisive when so many legitimate criticisms of Dems exist.

  16. JW says:

Did you see the rally in DC yesterday? I was at the 9-12 rally last year, and this one looked like it was even bigger.
But I guess we will see on Nov 2nd if talking about moral issues and the decaying of decent values by the left are a positive or a negative.
    Can’t wait, can you?

they need to include all the factors as more control of kids by parents and less by social services also the schools should have control over the students as the government subsidies schools they can insist on this. they need to cut back on extending workman’s comp as this encourages people to be lazy. retrain people there are jobs for skilled workers

  18. Bonnie C says:

    A few 100-thousand people doesn’t look wrong two me…..

  19. Sugar says:

    You bet they are.

  20. Coulterb says:

The Two people mentioned are both crazy and out of touch with reality. Asking if they are using the wrong approach is just asking does a bear shi* in the woods. The answer is that anyone listening to either of these two people are just feeding attention seekers, and not really serious about any problems facing the citizens of the U.S. The best thing you could do, is not to mention these two in any questions, not to watch them, not to listen to them, let them starve for attention, and either one of 2 things can happen, they will go away for one, or they will start doing some homework and get in touch with real people, so when they talk people can listen seriously. Today, everyone is just looking for amusement, and I really don’t think our political world is supposed to supply that to the public, it’s why we have people who do it for a living. Palin and Beck are nothing if not amusement for the people, but a serious minded political ideology, they are not.

  21. fbomonke says:

Because the conservative base tends to be religious, pure and simple and we are tired of their pretend faith to try to get our votes. We want people that walk the walk and talk the talk. That is what the Tea Party is all about.

  22. Huckleberry Hero says:

No, people all over the world need to see what happens when great nations become morally corrupt. It is a lesson we need to be taught over and over again t keep us in check. Beck & Palin and their followers need to be photographed at their race rallies and those photos need to be placed in history books just like the photos of whites lynching people in the 1920’s or Hitler preaching hate to a stadium full of supporters or the bodies of people being placed into mass graves.
Our children need to see this and they need to understand how easily corrupted people can become.

  23. Still Quazee says:

You forgot to add some democrats (few qualify as candidates) http://hotair.com/archives/2010/04/21/te…
More blacks than the left ever could possibly want in the mix to call it ‘racist’ in realityhttp://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/bla…
And what gives you (obviously makes you uncomfortable, huh?) the idea that ‘going back’ to religion is some kind of ‘bad thing’? Politicians with morals give you the willies?
And lest we forget, any candidate that doesn’t denounce religion and be pro-abortion will never be accepted by the left, so who gives a rotund rodent rump what they think about a conservative candidate anyhow?
Just to give libs bad dreams, let’s suppose Palin ran and won. (Fat chance, right libs?) Now, she’s all God and stuff, pro-life, just the antithesis of everything liberal so that means she’s gonna turn the world upside down and back to the 40’s right? Not so fast, lefty’s, the rule of law (which libs like 0bama sniff at) will not allow arbitrary changes by our ‘religious despot’ that the left fears so much. Roe vs Wade will still exist for those choosing to murder their unborn kids. The ‘state’ will still not have the power to impose an ‘official religion’ as set forth in the 1st amendment. And not one line of the Constitution would change unless the issue was soooo big that a Constitutional convention was put together. And who does that? The people, NOT the prez, unless 0bama gets some grandiose scheme going next week.

  24. Ross says:

The question of whether Beck wants to break up the party because he is actually on the side of its opposition, might arise.
That Palin is using it for her own political aspirations is also a factor.
The strength of the party, which came out of the Ron Paul campaign (Beck was not a supporter, Palin forgot about her support for Libertarian issues when she was chosen to run for VP) , can become more secure from learning the truth of these peoples’ motives, and then grow.

  25. Smart Kat says:

If yesterday’s event was a tea party event I woudl agree with you.
I am a Libertarian. Although I have spiritual values, Beck’s recent religious directions doesn’t reallly speak to me. That is why it was a good idea for Beck to not try to connect yesterday’s event with the Tea Party.
Judge Andrew Napolitano is a big Tea Party favorite but he had a former prostitute and a former porn star on his show just the other day in his discussion about ending the ban on the sex industry. I don’t see anyone trying to link that to the Tea Party movement!

  26. Micheala3-#1 Fan of WDPLM?3 says:

It starts with personal responsibility and our JudeoChristian roots. That’s our only hope. And we had better take a solid stand with Israel also.

  27. Ryan Wiseman says:

if our beliefs are what we look at then they are doing the right thing but people like the obama adminastaysdon thinks other wise so it not a question of what of if there doing the right thing it if they believe that when the days over they think they did the right thing and i think we all need to think there are problems that need to be fixed i think they are doing the right thing they don’t buy votes because they think there more important problem not buying votes are not important what they believe in is what right in my mind so they are christen so i support them

  28. Paul Grass®™℠ says:

I cant say that they are as much as I can say the more we see of 0bama and congress the larger the tea party grows
