I’ve Got A Question For You All?

No one, no matter what political party they affiliate with, can argue that the shooting last Friday was an extremely tragic incident. I see a lot of people now using what happened as an excuse to ban guns though. Some of these people say if there are no guns then people will not die, simple as that right? They also claim that if something bad happens then all they have to do is call the police and the cops will be there in a few minutes therefore sparing the victim from any harm. This is NOT the case. A few years ago in a city near where I live, a family was brutally murdered. Someone ended up calling the cops and they did get there. But the cops didn’t go into the house where the people inside were being raped and murdered as they sat there. So cops do not solve every problem. The only thing that could have protected that family was them defending themselves. Yes crimes do happen, but we need guns to protect ourselves from them. So why do some people keep saying that we don’t and the government will be able to protect us? There are many cases that prove otherwise so I really just want to know why people think that. Thanks guys

Why are so few left wingers proposing a ban on guns while so many right wingers are convinced that is the only thing they are saying?

—- Wrong, but………guns make it a lot EASIER to kill people.
If he had gone in there with a knife you think he would have killed that many people? hardly.

—maybe we should have police/security already in the school on a daily basis.

Would you change your mind if I told you that most serious gun injuries and deaths occur using weapons in people’s homes, owned for protection…
… against someone in the home, and not a criminal.
Keep in mind, for example, that the CT school shooter used guns his mother legally owned and kept around the house. Her right to own these guns ended up in tragedy.
And while most injuries and deaths are not on this scale, there are kids getting shot every day by guns owned by their parents.
Does this make you, if not change you mind, at least consider that this is not as simple as “people need guns to protect themselves”?

    1. Statistically unarmed people are more successful at stopping crime over 2 to 1.
    2. Most people despite their 2 week (or however long class) lack the ability to handle a firearm effectively in a crisis. The odds are greater the gun will be taken away from you and used against you in close situation then you being successful at using it.
    3. The vast majority of people would be better off and better able to defend themselves with a good self defense course (hand to hand training).
