What Has Gone Wrong With Our Generation?

I couldn’t answer this on the original thread because of the 300 word limit so I restarted this thread so I could answer it.
The problem is energy.
People do not connect to the real world anymore. We spend too much time with all our dramas, devices, distractions, hatreds, and aloofness. Our energy is depleted from these things that is why we (at least some of us) are having such a hard time in our lives and our world is falling apart. The real world passes most people by while they are actually not a part of it at all. No really it is true. If you stare at your phone while walking down the street you are already gone. The world is passing you by. And also while your kids are trying to engage your attention you shoo them away so you can watch tv (especially when you have already seen the show before) you are pushing the cycle of destruction onto the next generation which in turn they will follow onto the next one and so on and so forth.
There are many things that if done at the right time can fulfill your life path, but then many other things at the wrong time can just drain you.
It is hard to find your niche and log in so to speak with the life you are destined to lead but choices to waste your life on petty things will ultimately waste others’ lives too.

ya i consume way to much caffeine and have way to much energy, and that has ruined me and my family

Oh well. Its 30 years people will say the sane thing.
    You’re just “old” and outdated.
The world is constantly changing. New people, new ideas, new world.
Do your best to go with it, but keep the important things like family time and dinner at the table

Yea, but you can’t get anywhere with it unless you have an opinion.

I agree. I’m only 14, and I know exactly what you mean. Most kids and teenagers these days are so connected and addicted to their electronics that they can’t even carry on a conversation. People only think about themselves, and teenagers worry about fitting in and being popular. Is that really what life is about? No. And everyone dwells on the negative things in their lives, and they take everything that they have for granted. Life’s too short, we need to make the best of it. I completely agree with you. 🙂 xx

Actualy, I would argue (based on previous historical trends) that it is actually a drastic overcorrection from the boring lives we see our parents living. We don’t want to get trapped in such a bland, strictly scheduled routine because we would loathe it with all of our being. Adults no longer seem the slightest bit relatable and maturity is no longer particularly desirable, so we shut them out entirely and do our best to form our own highly selective society including only extremely exciting people. It’s been going on this way for years. What do you call the druggies in the 70’s? They’re the old version of most of this generation. They were a reaction to the oppressive boredom of the previous age’s lifestyle. We are them now, and we’ll eventually be replaced by a new generation that will swing the other way, away from being too f*cked up to do anything and back towards obsessive productivity.

I think it’s all mainly because of “fear”, or worry that leads to void feelings and loneliness if not boredom..
Many of those people, esp. the younger generation trying to be somebody that really never convey who they are..For it takes courage and an amount of strength not to fear probable rejection from others, who would not accept them. But no, they could still prefer being accepted of who they are not! And it leads to depression..Because it isn’t the real person in them being appreciated. You can see this go like a viral matter in the entertainment world as well. Some could escape from drugs or other types of perversion..before they could accept everything about it.
Then those IGNORANT people who are enhancing these images of (selfish) likeness to others of what they are trying to make up with themselves. And it’s not really what they are..
It even used to lead into bullying when one could turn out different from the others. This is also common among family relations..What a pathetic world that is..
What happens then on those cases..?
Some would suddenly commit suicide, IF not going out on rampage killing others.
Now people…Why are they grieving? Without knowing anything about its real core. Because it’s probably the easiest way to judge the action that’s being merely shown on the surface, than to observe very well the process undergone by other lives, and to analyze more.
I am not trying to tell that to be empathic always to the evil doers. But at least try to understand on what should change not to aggravate these matters. What should be worked on well to improve. Than just repeating the same old fault..
    Wishing well…!!
    Have a nice day…!!

Thats true. I wish we could all open our eyes. I know technology is good on some terms…but its supposed to be used to connect people all it seems to have done is split us apart…im 17 & angry at my fellow 17 yr olds & society for making them this way….we all need to really connect more with our universe

  8. Dan says:

Many things have gone wrong with society in recent years. At the root of most if it is moral decay. The abandonment of traditional family values is taking a terrible toll.
Example: When I was 14 I had a part time job during the school year, and full time in the summer. I had my own truck. I operated a farm. I supported myself and as a result I did not have a low self esteem problem.
What does a 14-year-old do today? Watch TV, text on the cell, listen to the ipod, eat junk food, and clamor for peer group acceptance on Facebook. It’s a total tragedy. There were no cutters or teen suicides when I was a kid, None.
