Does One Have To Take Science To Be A Clinical Psychologist ?

I live in India and my school is affiliated to the Central Board Of Secondary Education. I’m 15 now, and the next year I have to choose between Science, Commerce and Humanities. Will I have to take up Science to pursue Clinical Psychology as a career ? And what exactly can / does a Clinical Psychologist do ? How much is the pay ?

Yes, I presume that you have to take Science over any Arts degree (Humanities falls under Arts). The psychologist that go with arts are the ones that are guidance counsellors and such. Science is the degree you can use if you are doing studies on psychology regarding medication and such. However, a Clinical Psychologist is one that you probably imagine as the one that sits and talks with patients. Personally, I would stick in a Life Sciences program. And being any kind of practicing psychologist requires a Master’s Degree in Arts or Science, so it does take a lot of work, at least for me in Canada. I am not sure what the earnings for psychologist in India is, but in Canada I think it is roughly $60,000 to $100,000.
