I Found A Little Turtle , With An Orange Stomach , Yellow Ears , And A Cute Tail (pretty Long For The Turtles)?

I was on my way to school and it was really rainy (in NYC) , so I see a little turtle crawling towards the road made me feel bad for it , i was i thinking i should pick it up so it will not get crushed by a car . The reason i thought the turtle crawled out because like i said it was rainy and their niche drowned and they had no air to breathe with .
Now iam at home and concerned why it doesnt eat anything , and what type of turltle it is , i need to know if its aquatic and i need to keep it in the water , because iam keeping it just crawling and without any water to swim in . Can someone help me how to feed it , is it aquatic or not . And please dont tell me to realese it because iam not going to . Thank you all very much .

It isn’t eating because its a wild animal confused and terrified by its new environment. This is common for wild-caught reptiles, and many starve themselves or die later of stress-related illnesses even after they start eating. I’m telling to to release it. Even if you find out what it is, its not fair to keep it in captivity, and by doing so you’re choosing to kill it. Harsh, but its the truth, and you should understand what you’re doing by choosing to keep it even though I’m pretty sure you know its wrong to do so. (and also illegal in most places, by the way)

I do know what species it is. Let it go on the other side of the road it was headed. You are going to kill it. And yes, that species is illegal to take from the wild in New York State.

Please let it go man or it probably will die. If you still want a pet turtle then just get one from a pet store because those will be bred in captivity and will live much much longer and will be loads happier.
