But The Gazette reports that Montreal’s Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) is currently the center of a controversy involving a surgeon who has reportedly charged several individuals $10,000 cash sums to receive bariatric surgery, also known as gastric bypass surgery, earlier than the normal system would have allowed.

Is Canadian Health Care Really Better Than The U.s ?

Yes, it is soooo far better than the US System….waiting lists are based on how sick you are, if she was in line it is because other people are sicker, rich people don’t like that…..nothing is perfect (that kills the Republican argument -SEE it doesn’t WORK)…but not even one Canadian has gone bankrupt since 1964 due to medical bills, you can work, quit, go to school, retire, get hurt, get better, get sick, get well and you always sleep at night knowing that your Universal Care is there…..for EVERYONE
P.S. We pay a lot in taxes….but less than your taxes and health care share, when combined…..

It is the same with most socialized national health programs. It is better than nothing but most good jobs come with private insurance.

health care costs are out of control and even with insurance many people can’t afford it…much less those that don’t have it…
a few horror stories from Canada doesn’t mean much when you look at how many don’t receive care in the U.S…
see that’s the thing, they still get the care in Canada, they just have to wait for it… and in some areas, the wait isn’t any longer than the wait in the U.S…. in some areas, it’s bad…
US Veterinary care is better then Canada’s human medical program.
Um, I guess you just aren’t aware that it takes many months and years to get necessary procedures in the US…..and we have our own black market, where people who can’t wait pay a hefty sum to get the treatment or kidney they need.
No but then if it was their high ranking officials including their PM would stay there but instead come here when they need good care
Maybe but a lot slower I owed a bar near a transplant hospital an we would have 5-10 people a year that would stop in while waiting for a relative or loved on getting treatment here because the waiting list was to long in Canada.
No it is not because Canadians come to the USA to get real treatment.
The waiting list is 3-6 months long.
Indian Health Service the prelude to Obama Care has a waiting list as much as 6 months to see a Dr, in some places other small communities the waiting list is smaller except specialist then it can be a long wait

People come from all over the World for our Health Care. Why, because it is the best. If you are poor you can go to any hospital and by law they have to treat you. They will treat you just as anyone else. You may get a very BIG bill but they can not sue you for Medical Bills. Our insurance rates are soaring but only because we can not buy in a competitive market. We can only buy in the State we reside. We could tweak our system and it would remain the best on the planet. This Universal Health care will Bankrupt this country. Many will still not be covered, we will have our good Doctors going to other countries and their regular patients will pay to follow them. Canada’s system and all other countries health system has failed the people. It will always be the wealthy will get the best health care and the people will get what is left over. Why is the President exempt from this health care if it is so good? How about all the Congress? With this system people will lose their coverage from work, the employer will not be able to afford it. We are short family doctors now! Why do you people think it is right for the person who flips burgers to get the same pay as Doctors. We will lose all of our good doctors. Do we really want to chance that?
To make another point….I had bicep and rotator cuff surgery within 2 weeks of my shoulder hurting so bad I needed it. I bet in Canada I would still be hurting and waiting.
For a flu shot or to get a cut stitched up, maybe.
But for the complicated stuff like haveing your eyeballs cut open for cataracts, the wealthy ones come here and pay cash.
