How Do I Make Sure They Don’t Have Access To My Computer?

A Windows Microsoft company gave me a call and suggested to help me remove malicious files on my PC. I was vigilant at first but as they claimed to be affiliated with Microsoft i of couse said why not, I can always hang up if something’s fishy.
I’d never gotten a call from Microsoft, at least not that i’m aware of but i don’t know, anyway. The directed me to www.windowspcsecurity.com (safe?) and had me Connect to Tech Support; I wasn’t too sure what it meant but it gave them access to my computer and with that they explained the sources to certain problems on my PC and such.
Come the end they referred me to their website onestopplus which i KNOW has a bad reputation, i had No idea this was their intention and after seeing the prices i passed.
I shut down my computer and now i’m wondering if thats enough to revoke their access to my computer?

    No, mate, that’s NOT enough.
Once you’ve given them access, they’ve planted all sorts of rubbish on your computer that MAY allow them to access it at any time you’re connected to the internet.
The easiest thing for you to do now is to format your computer and reinstall Windows. This WILL delete everything on your hard drive, so make sure you back up files that you need for later use.

In addition change your passwords to e mail and banking from a computer that is not infected.
If you do on line banking I would call the bank and tell them that your computer has been compromised.
It is a scam as you already know and they sometimes use e mail instead of phone call.
I would re install everything. There are a few tools available to try to remove malware but they already have access to who knows what.
Edit-You did not see all that was done. They kept you occupied. There was a port opened giving them access. Who knows how many ports they opened in your firewall and what they introduced onto your computer. Get it cleaned up.
I copied this from a site, I’ll give the link to the article.
“-The vast majority (79 percent) of people deceived in this way suffered some sort of financial loss. Seventeen percent said they had money taken from their accounts, 19 percent reported compromised passwords and 17 percent were victims of identity fraud. More than half (53 percent) said they suffered subsequent computer problems-“.

You have been scammed , this has been going around for 18 months. First up they don’t represent Microsoft, they say they are a “windows’ company implying your PC is infected. Microsoft DO NOT solicit people by phone. Second tell them you don’t have a PC is the easy way to get rid of them, or you have a Mac PC, they got no come back for that. I suggest you gather all the info you can about them discreetly and pass it on to the telecommunications Ombudsman. I have had a client scammed and they went to the trouble of putting an account on her PC. The lady suffered from MS and was wheelchair bound, so relied on her PC. I have had numerous calls myself and tell them anything, but don’t let them access your PC. You have to give the permission to access this is part of the ploy. They tried to get me to use a trial of “log me in” which a lot of legitimate companies use, such as Microsoft and Symantec. In AU the Federal Police are trying to track them down. If they asked for money go to your bank and see if a paper trail exists and block you account as well.
