Search engine listing is the bread and butter of free traffic, it can be a long haul to reach search ranking where people will actually find you, having a site in a relatively non competitive field makes it a lot easier to rank well in search results. Besides creating content referencing target search key phrases, the biggest search ranking factor is the number of links from other sites, which can also act as direct sources of some traffic.
Related blog post comments and forum post signatures are some of the easiest links to get. A Facebook fan page, if applicable can’t hurt.

As an amateur guerrilla marketer, I like to expand my web presence as much as possible. Running a blog, maintaining a LinkedIn, a Facebook, a Twitter, and a MySpace page (and others) and tying them all in to a central website is a great idea to begin. You can update all of these statuses simultaneously with Ping.fm (just type in the address bar). After this is done, adding YouTube videos, acquiring a fan following on Facebook, and actively posting interactive or unique content will win you more followers and more traffic. It may take several days to get all of this in working order.
    Best of luck!

There are many ways to get traffic to to your website. Blogging is a great way to get traffic, writing articles, participating in forums. Some forums allow you to have a signature. You can put a link to your site. Join forums that pertain to the topic of your site. Social sites such as twitter and facebook are good for free advertising. I myself also like to use freeadboards an viral marketing tools.

The majority of “get traffic” sites are spam, and the way to get real, useful, and organic traffic to your website is to simply promote it. Promote it via social media, blogging, local advertising if relevant, leave your link in your email signature, on blog posts, etc. There are several articles online with more tips, but there is no quick solution or get-traffic-fast scheme that works, it simply takes smart marketing tactics and a bit of work.

You can try these steps to get free traffic to your website or blog:
    – Write relevant articles and submit to popular article submitting websites.
    – Submit to Social Networking Sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
    – Post to Quality Web Directories and Forums
    – Exchange links with other good relevant sites.
You need patience and time to get the real results by doing these tasks on regular basis. There is no shortcut if you also want stability in traffic.
