I don’t think America is becoming more religious. As a college student who knows many people across this country at institutions of higher education, most of them don’t believe in a god. As these younger generations grow up and make it into political office, religion will decline in civilized areas even more. I guarantee I’ll see the first president of this country who puts agnostic (or hopefully atheist) as their religious belief rather than Christian.
According to a 2007 Pew poll, the number of “non-affiliated” Americans was 16.1%, up from 8% just one decade before. This number is nearly 25% in the under 25 age group. And 55% of those who self-identify as “atheists” are under 35. So yes, the trend is that America is getting less religious and more and more young people in particular are turning away from religion.

Religions may be dying, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since they contain truth, error and doctrines of men. Many follow Jesus and live His way of life without religious or denominational restrictions.
We can only hope that’s true! A world without religion would be a much better world.

According to a book I once browsed (damn, can’t remember the author) the answer is yes and no.
There are two factors at work. Atheism is on the rise; but so is relgious fundamentalism (Westboro being an extreme example).
In other words, moderate christianity is dying; but people are moving away from it in both directions.
Certain religions are dying:
Jehovah’s Witnesses denomination reported a 4.37 percent gain in membership, with 1,162,686 members total
Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s second largest denomination, reported a .42 percent decline in membership to 16,160,088 members
Mormon Church – grew 1.42 percent to 6,058,907 members
Denominations counting the biggest losses in membership included United Church of Christ, down 2.83 percent to 1,080,199 members; the Presbyterian Church (USA), down 2.61 percent to 2,770,730 members; and the Episcopal Church, down 2.48 percent to 2,006,343 members
the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., which has 1,010,000 members, reported a 59.60 percent decline in membership
total church membership declined by 1.05 percent over 2010 to 145,838,339 members

I am trying to help in that trend. I think religion brings less freedom to peoples lives. I like kids growing not to be bound by certain rules. I love the next generation to be more prosperous and caring for one another. Everyone can be successful and do great things while they live. People are going to read things and they will have a choice. Most people given all the information from science vs religious claims will normally make the right choice in what is true and what is not.
Yes it is… and with good reason… people are pulling their head out of their asses and starting to think, instead of believe… Good riddance i say… Not to say everyone should just turn their back on religion… but do your homework, research, education is an amazing thing.

America was built on and founded on a Christian foundation and is fast declining as a civil society by taking God out of the equation. It used to be the United States “UNDER GOD”. It is fast declining into a melting pot of rot and immorality under satan.
