How To Get Rid Of Random Pop Ups?

A couple of months ago I started getting random pop ups. It’s always pop ups that have to do with the site I’m on but they’re not affiliated with the website they’re just pretending to be. Like if I go to chase.com a fake chase pop up comes up. Or if I’m on victoriassecret.com a fake VS pop up comes up. How can I get rid of this? I have Mcaffee security or something like that but when I try to use it it just opens up the website and tells me to buy stuff. What do I do? I want them to go away and I don’t want to buy anything.

    1. it depends on what internet browser you use, every browser has security and privacy and popup blocker options that you may need to turn on..
    2. alot of pop ups could be a result of a virus, it seems to me you dont have mcaffee, instead its just a link to mcaffee or you may of had a trial period thats expired, so you could have a virus..if this is the case than the best thing to do is go ahead and buy mcaffe, itll get rid of the virus and keep you protected in the future..

First of all, turn on your Pop up blocker. You didn’t mention what browser you are using so just use it’s Help menu in the tool bar to find out how to do it.
Second, install this and scan your computer for malware.:http://www.malwarebytes.org
It’s free. I’m sure you’ll find something in your computer as you are experiencing those pop ups.
Edit: Ok so now I see you have Firefox. Click on Tools > Options > Contents > Block Pop up Windows.

Try a program like malware bytes or spybot search and destroy. A good portion of the time excessive pop-ups are caused by malwares.

Scan your computer with a legitimate anti-spyware software. Choose from malwarebytes antimalware and superantispyware. Download links http://www.pcrisk.com/top-spyware-remove… Both mentioned software are free and does a great job at detecting and removing spyware. Download install and update before running a full system scan. If these mentioned software doesn’t find any infections download and install Hitman pro http://www.surfright.nl/en/products/ Run a scan.
You may also try TDSSKiller from Kaspersky http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/sol… (this will work if your computer is infected with rootkit, sometimes it comes along with redirect viruses)
