When I sell through Amazon affiliates, who pays for my 5% commission? Is it Amazon? Or is it the Seller?

I realize this is a bit early for Christmas shopping, but I didn’t have much money to invest in thoughtful gifts for loved ones last year, so I want to do it right this year. My boyfriend is a die-hard Red Sox fan, and he’s mentioned offhandedly that he’d like a documentary and/or box set affiliated with the Red Sox. So, my question is for fellow Red Sox fans. Which is a must-have in your collection, that you think he would be absolutely psyched to receive?
Any info/link is helpful, but I work for Amazon (and get a discount), so that would be even better.

I’ve been drooling over this lens for a while, and my dad said he’d buy it for me for birthday/Christmas.. but I don’t know.. My dads always tight on money and A. I don’t know if I want him spending that much for me even though he’s willing, B. I don’t want to get such an expensive lens only to be disappointed, and C. I don’t know if that lens is what I need to improve my photography, I don’t KNOW what I need to improve… I’m not sure what my photography niche is yet, but I think I want to get into photojournalism and I was told the F2.8 would help.

1. Watch talk shows, commercials, infomercials, and the news to pick up new ideas for markets to explore. Right down the broad terms (like “back pain”) in your list of potential markets that you’ll research later

2. Check Amazon and eBay for the hottest trends. This will give you an idea of what’s selling right now so that you tailor your market research around these items. Focus on “who might want to buy this product” and do your research on that basis.

3. Check your “Spam” or “Junk” folder in your email for what spammers are trying to promote. Take ideas from these emails, but you don’t have to promote the same products.
