Why Is This Happening To Me?

My life is heading in a direction I am not sure of.
I am a clever kid. I get good grades in school and have all my subjects on higher level and get good marks. I am planning on applying for university admission next year, but something is really wrong.
Everyone expected me to become a doctor or engineer. OR at least something worth studying for. (Studies are expensive). But I have another plan with my life. I want to go into advertising (with a focus on the art – Art Director). I am going to study for a BA (hons) in Visual Communications Design.
Well my problem is that no one, not even me, expected me to be interested in something like this. I don’t know if I’m making the right decision. Are there job opportunities for Art Directors (I know you work your way up). Do they pay well?
I always imagined myself having a comfortable life, driving nice cars, and always said If I become something great I can have that life (We are not the richest people).
Now I am totally interested in something else, something that probably doesn’t even pay well…
Am I making the wrong decision? Should I reconsider my future? I really don’t know what to do…
HELP PLEASE!!!! 🙁

People think that your way is set once you make a decision on a course of study. This isn’t the case at all. You can change your mind later.
Start with what you think you want to do. Meet people that share your interests and also people that work in the field that you describe. See if you like them, their lifestyle, and what they do. Talk to counselors/advisers. Most of your courses early on will be pretty generic. You may be behind a little if you switch to more specific paths like engineering, but I wouldn’t worry too much about that for your first year. Some universities even have a “general” course of study where you don’t affiliate yourself with a particular school right away and just take broad requirement courses.

If you like it, stay close to it,
This does not mean youre done searching for your profession,
There’s other opportunities you have, you good grades! Try other things as well, you might not even like the art category till you try it,
There’s other things you can do..
Try other interests. Dont be in a hurry to choose a career with those impressive grades, you can do better if you believe so.

if u really think, u can bcum a good art director then trust me the pay outs r really good in the industry line… but yes to achieve such a good position u will hv to struggle a lot bcoz there r many people who comes to mumbai everyday for a chance in the industry and keep struggling… sumtimes they just get the rite break and bcum sumone like sharukh khan and sumtimes they just disappear… so the industry is actually abt taking chances unless u already hv sumone working in the industry who has good contacts to help u out
