I did my graduation, completed my BHM, bachelor’s degree in Hotel management, in year 2007, from an IHM, affiliated to PUSA, NCHMCT. after completion i got a job as a normal steward in Oberoi group of hotels and resorts, where i gave my best efforts and became supervisor in 3 years. After completing around 4 years with the organization, i thought of exploring other properties, luckily i got two offers too. I was on the same level of Supervisor/ Team leader, from Leading group of hotels, Leela, and other was an executive, a level above supervisor, with carlson group of hotels, in the same city. i opted for Leela, as its a big brand, and joined , but somehow was not able to work longer, as found the work environment, and working style, and the amount of work/stress too much, also met with an accident during that period, which made my mind to quit from that hotel. I realized later it was a hasty and quick decision. I was jobless for a month, during which i tried to change my industry, but somehow, also got an offer from another 5*hotel, where i got selected as an ASSISTANT RESTAURANT MANAGER, which gave me some satisfaction. I joined that hotel, and was able to sustain myself and survive, with the operations of FOOD and BEVERAGE. This hotel has again got busy operations, with very very difficult clientele. clientele, who cribs and cries / complaints for discounts, becomes fussy, thinking anticipation of hospitality with utmost flexibility in hotel norms and policies, tries to take uneven advantage. Working in such environment after being an ARM also, i worked for around 14 hours, minimum. i hardly got time for my personal life/family, its time only on off days which i spend with them.
I have resigned from my employer, and its almost three months now, that i am sitting ideal. I have been looking for opportunities, and have got selected twice again in two different hotel brands, i tried to join the hotel industry again but was unable to keep myself satisfied, as the industry remains the same with the same work style, and more of fatigue and pain, less time for your own self. Its around six different different hotels i have seen, and always found myself not enjoying this work for the long run/ lifetime. I am looking for job oppurtunities in sales& marketing as i have done distance study from symbiosis pune, PGDBA in Marketing management. If anything else i can opt for please guide me .
I am looking for jobs nowadays, and trying to find out some good opportunity. I would be highly obliged, for some useful guidance from you all. Please help me.
Also if anywhere i can approach for any guidance and some1 can provide me with the useful details, i will be very thankful.
