Should All The Nhl Teams Have Their Ahl Affiliate In Their City Or Suburb Or At Least Close?

Example of a “close” AHL team would be LA having their affiliate in Salt Lake City instead of Manchester on the Eastern Seaboard.

    Lee Everett, why does it matter if it’s still NBA season. The NBA season could be over, and still no one would care about the NHL. We’d be watching baseball or football instead.

    No, if the mother team wants to pay the higher travel costs it should be up to them. If the AHL club is on the road and they have to recall a player, he has to come from wherever he is anyways. St. John’s isn’t close to anywhere.

    Most of the teams in the northeast do have their AHL teams within 200 miles, but the Kings are assuring that the guys in their AHL affiliate are seeing better competition in the northeast than they would see in Salt Lake City. There is a reason for doing that, and besides, in this day and age you can recall a player and have him usually within 12 hours, They are better off with a team in Manchester, much better competition.
