I didn’t care much for his second album. A waste of $8 if you ask me.
There are two kinds of Americans after 9/11. There are the Americans who bought the NeoCon crap about how Arabs hate America for our freedom, Islam is a religion of hate and treachery, children in the Middle East are raised to hate the West, and anything that smells of Islam should be deemed as dangerous to an alleged Christian Nation like the US as communism was deemed dangerous to democracy. Then there are the Americans who think for themselves, who realize most Muslims are decent, God-fearing, peace-loving people who just want to live their lives without trouble, that every group has its extreme elements and those elements should not define the whole, that 9/11 did not happen out of the blue and was the result of 50 years of Western manipulation of Middle Eastern politics, and that freedom of religion is something worth believing in beyond the lip-service level.
As such, I think most Americans can tolerate discussion of Sharia Law, most Americans want to keep church and state separate and therefore are even less likely to vote for pro-Islamic theocracy than they are pro-Christian theocracy, and they’ll put it in the proper context and move onto the next issue. There will be some–and you can flip through your right-wing radio stations to find them–who use this to churn up political discord, using this as a wedge to score political points and to further demonize the Muslim world with the same erroneous broad brush they’ve been painting with for the last decade, but by now, I think the majority of Americans are tired of their shock-jockeying, their hate-pandering, and their sophistry to give them the attention they crave.
